Going to prime

I start at prime feb 1. I have a rand mcnally tnd730 GPS and I bought a rand mcnally 2016 motor carriers road atlas. Should I buy anything else or do I get the rest of the stuff there. Locks or fifth wheel lock?

Missouri Permits

I Just talked to my recruiter and he told me Missouri will no longer transfer permits from other states. You must take the exams to receive your permits in Missouri. I don't know yet if they will have to fingerprint you and run another background check if you have already taken care of that in your home state.

Logbook question

I have my permits but I am not in school until Feb 1. Trying to make sure I fully understand the hours of service. Lets say I am driving and pull into a truck stop and I find out there is no place for me to park. My 14 hour clock just ran out. Am I allowed to go off duty and drive to the next truck stop which is 10 miles away. I am allowed to drive the truck for personal reasons off duty, so who is to say I wasn't going to walmart for groceries. Probably unethical but would it work?

High road training

Justin, You do not need the permit before you go but from what I understand it will make life easier when you get there. It is just one burden removed from the first week which will allow you to focus on backing and driving.

High road training

Just my opinion but the high road training program is awesome. I took all my tests and passed with flying colors. Even though I passed tankers and hazmat I cant get those on my permit until I show that I passed my skills tests. I got fingerprinted for hazmat and applied for twic card today. I am going to prime feb 1, hope I am not forgetting anything. It would have been much more difficult if I hadn't found this site and all the information I have got off here. Thanks

Hazmat

I am going to take the tests for my permits in Wisconsin on 11/23. I received my med card so I know I am good to go. I will be going to Prime in January. Should I take my hazmat test and get the background check rolling or should I wait. I heard it can take up to 6 weeks for the background check. I want everything done that I can get done before I go.
