Wen to my local doc in a box (clinic) to have my annual re-cert done and my blood sugar was high (235) I have never been diagnosed with Diabetes or even been on medication to control my sugar. It is the same Dr. I always go to for my re-cert every year. The Dr refused to re cert me until I go to a regular Dr and get tested and on a treatment plan if needed. In the mean time my card expires in 3 days, it's Thanksgiving and she would not even give me a 30 card to make time to go to the Dr and get this all taken care of, which means if I drive after Friday I am illegal.
I think they should have at least given me 30 or 90 days to get this all checked and on a treatment plan if I need to have this treated.
Also this was a non fasting blood check and naturally we had just had breakfast at Waffle House this morning. Go Figure.... lol
Is this standard practice to just shut a driver down because my blood sugar was high one time in all my years.

Questions for company recruiter's
What are good questions we should ask a recruiter before deciding which company we want to apply to? You know the questions you wish you would have asked or the questions you did not know you needed to ask but wish you did....

How well are trucks maintained by the shop?
This may not be an easy question or maybe not even a fair question but here goes...
What trucking companies maintain their trucks the best?
What companies have the newest equipment ?

Thanks Rainy for the info, I can get all the medical info and bring my CPAP machine for them to look at the records of my use.
I think I noticed your name in a few other post and if I remember correctly you just went to driving school or just finished. How di dyou like Prime? I am considering them and Con-Way and a couple others. Con-Way mostly because the have a couple of hub's here in the Atlanta area.

You say the Lisinopril will only allow me to get a one year card. Is that a bad thing or just more of a hassle for me to get it renewed each year.
The CPAP machine is only about a year old and does have the sd card that tracks the use of it.

Also I use a CPAP machine and I do use it every night. Is this something that will stop me from becoming a driver?

Wanted to drive for years, now is my chance...
Well now I believe i'm ready to head out on the road. But first I have some questions.
My blood pressure is controlled by Lisinopril 10mg, one per day. Keeps it in the 135/76 range every time I get it checked.
Cholesterol is maintained with Pravastatin 40 mg, one per day. When tested it show ok.
Thats all the prescribed medications I take on a REGULAR basis. I have a prescription for Fluoxetine that I was prescribed for depression, I don't take them but I have in the past. I do have Hydrocodone I use for kidney stones that come periodically, not taken in almost a year. I have Prednisone that I have taken in the past for Gout, not taken in over a year.
Will any of these things stop me from becoming a truck driver?
After I get answers for this I will follow up with more less concerning questions.
Thanks to all who answer with informative responses...

Denied Medical Cert.
Thanks guys, I already have a Dr appt today and will get this checked out. So what happens if and when I don't get my medical card and self certify by the dead line? Do I lose my CDL and have to take all the training and test again?
