I drove one pulling a grain hoper, what I remember was getting in and out of the truck was a task. It had more of a lader than steps. It turned into a chore after a while! Especially when trying to load things in the cab.

My situation is very similar to Dale, I drove local from 2001 to 2010 changed to a non-driving job till now. In the next few years I will retire and would like to go out on the road. Old school can you tell me a little more about that refresher course?

What you need to think about is having a plan for the unforeseen problems that will occur while you are gone. Talk with your wife and decide on who can y'all call on for help when needed. When I'm gone for extended times I like to know we have at least tried to cover our bases before a problem arises. This will take some of the anxiety out of every day life for her.
