Past your drive time

You should be parked by the 11th hour. If you were to drive over your 11 and get into an accident your probability of losing your license and/or going to jail are exponential.

One rookie move after another...sigh

I use truckers path as well, but when teaming with my husband and he is asleep, the GPS is right there. Ours will shoe cat scales. If it has a cat scale you should be okay. Just dont trust the GPS solely. It is just a guide.

Show not shoe......

Game: you first felt like a real trucker when....

When I didn't mind peeing in a jug, because when you take other roads besides the interstates you may not come upon any rest stops or stores with truck parking or that are open in the "wee" hours.

What happened to this poor truck.

I backed up to my trailer yesterday. It wouldn't go. I got out to look. My 5th wheel was straight up. Put 2 nice holes in the trailer (oops)!

Wanting to get my CDL

I have just been laid off from my job after 30 yrs and I want to get my CDL but the different CDL training schools and different trucking companies are really overwhelming. Can any of you ladies help me out and give input on where to start for a female? Do you have insight already on whether private school or company is better? I have been wasting time time trying to make the right choice. Please help me out

I guess it depends on where you are. I got lucky having a decent company that sponsors a school that is affordable.

Advice for a new girl, please

Hi, I am considering getting my cdl and have opted to (maybe) attend The Truck Driver Institute in Sanford, Fl. Anyone have any advice or comments, good or bad, regarding this private school? I have spoken with their rep. Nice guy but I also realize it's his job to recruit. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just be careful of what they say and promise. Look into the school, it is easy with the internet these days. It is best to go through a school that is sponsored by an actual business.

Advice needed please ASAP!!

So I started class last week, never been in a tractor/trailer before other than a rider twice, I got consistently yelled at about double shifting and not getting the gears. All the while, the trainer was texting and messaging on facebook and barely lifted his head from it. This week I got a different trainer and he made more sense to me, however as I went out on the road yesterday and today, I forgot everything they were telling me or if I remembered, it wasn't good enough or fast enough. This is only my 6th day in the tractor, but today I was given until Friday to get it together... Help!?!

Are you paying for this class? Who through? Shifting has been hard for me, but it has gotten better. All my trainers have been kind and understanding. It's not so much how you screw up, but how you fix your screw up.
