Need Help Regarding My License

What school did you go through and when you were taught did you drive 10 speed or auto ?

We trained on both auto and manual. The manual was done early on in the course not near the time of my road test. I didnt feel confident taking the test in a manual which looking back was a bad decision.

I should have taken it, failed then immediately got more training and another road test about a month later.

Now I have to pay more money and wait 2 months, plus the license I have now to me looks worthless. I never thought it would be so hard to break into the field.

Ive filled out an application with US Xpress but have not heard from them. I even called twice today and left messages with no call back yet. Prime accepted me and also TMC. But I cant drive for them until I get my restriction lifted.

Advice to students: Dont test in an auto and get that restriction, as it will severely limit your driving opportunities.

Need Help Regarding My License

I would have someone teach you the shifting and then retake the road test in a manual transmission.

Easier said than done.

Where do I find that 'someone'? Where do I get a truck and trailer for the road test?

Need Help Regarding My License

I went to a CDL Driving School and got a Class A however it does have an automatic restriction which means I can only drive automatic trucks. Because of this, Im having a hard time finding employment despite the fact that I have a clean license and clean background.

1)Im fresh out of school with no experience 2)I have that automatic restriction

What do I do? Can I get a job? Where do I look?

I know the obvious solution is to get that restriction lifted. I looked into that but it will take $1000 and 2 months time. What do I do in the meantime? Is my Class A license worthless?

For those of you wondering why I have that restriction, well it boils down to the school not giving me enough training on the shifting part and I felt that I would fail the road test if I tested manual. So I decided to test automatic and passed and got my license. The bad part is the companies I wanted to work for want me to be able to drive manual. I never thought the restriction would be such a problem.

I need advice on what to do.

License is from NY State.
