Oh, there were a few times where if I was lacking coverage in an area, I could hop onto an AT&T network and pay the surcharge. I don't remember how much that is, but since AT&T uses the same GSM network as T-Mobile it was fairly seamless. Just search for available networks and when AT&T comes up select that and you're on your way again. (Just remember to check every so often to see if you're back in range of T-Mobile's network.)
I'm very interested in how much the surcharge was. I've called T-Moblie but they just want to upsell me onto some other plan for $60 for 500mb.

Co driver drinking while off duty
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that you could not be in a Commercial Vehicle with any alcohol in your system regardless if you were driving or not. If so, the OP may not be able to drive if there is no one in the vehicle with a Class A CDL.

Very interested in this topic.... sorry to say I may be in the same boat. Anybody know if Prime sends you home until you have results on CPAP?

Keep in mind - you WILL NEED TO DOUBLE-CLUTCH during the skills portion of your road test - so it's a skill that needs to be mastered regardless.
I was driving in school, some 4 weeks before we road tested - had taught myself to float and was doing it, pretty much every shift (including 2 gears up and down). By the time I got to road test, my double-clutching was MISERABLE. When I tried to float, the examiner corrected me and told me I needed to DC. Failed my first road test with 23 missed shifts (no points deducted for any other skill). Failed on shifts ALONE.
Being so new at it - I hadn't mastered it to the point of "muscle memory", before I just started floating all the time.
So, for those in school - DC EXCLUSIVELY. Once you get your license - by all means float or use a combination of both.
Rick
Sounds like great advice to me. Sorry to hear you learned it the hard way, but thank you for sharing that with us.

Tough Call...What would you do?
Not a driver yet, but i'll give it a shot. It's a company trailer. It would be irresponsible to screw over the next driver when you know the reefer has issues. I believe it would be best to bite the bullet and get it repaired. You have not started your 14 hour clock yet. Yes, you are only as good as your last load but I'm hoping your DM would be more understanding if you took the initiative to fix it. Call your DM and communicate what is going on. You may have to get creative with your hours. Maybe even take advantage of the Split Sleeper Berth provision. The next load is a tight load but as long as you can plan it correctly you should be able to make up for the delay.

I'm in a similar situation. I live about 10 minutes north of the border and the majority of companies will not consider me because they will not be able to get me home soon. Prime did approve me. Maybe you just need to get the right person on the line. Is it possible to speak to a different recruiter or would there be anyway they'd make an exception?

New to Trucking- Starting school at KLLM
Hello and Good Afternoon to you all. I'll keep this as short as possible. I am a 23 year old father that is changing careers. I am scheduled to start school on January 18th at KLLM in Lancaster, Tx. Has anyone here on the forum trained at KLLM? I was wondering if they are structured like Prime where you basically seek your own trainer. I've been studying the High Road Training program and I feel prepared for school. Also, failure is not an option for me. I've been thinking of going into trucking for years and my wife is very supportive to say the least. I am just curious if we do have any KLLM drivers here who can give their point of view of the company. Thank you in advance.
