weezy's Bio

So a little history about myself I am 28 y/o. I recently separated from the Army as a Combat Infantryman with just shy of nine years in service. I am really excited to start this new journey into the world of driving trucks. I am aspiring to get a job hauling crude oil from the oil fields , or hauling fracking sand. Hope all works out. Can't be any worse than two tours in combat. Good luck to everyone . I will update more as I get going in the process.

Oil fields

Fact is no matter what you haul into a oil site there will also be manual labor involved. They sneak a little sentence is saying ".....and other assigned duties" meaning if you are asked or assigned to work with a crew to unload your truck or they need help with something you have to help them. Since manual labor does not count towards driving you only have to show it as on duty. So basically you will be driving and working on site also.

The rates they charge for room and board in the oil fields are nuts. Its great to say you made 10,000 or so a month as long as you don't tell it cost you $8000 just to live in that area.

And since most OTR oil field drivers are paid cpm at or around .30 to .40 cpm how are you going to feel when you are asked to pay $7.50 to $8.50 for a hamburger from McDonald in the oil field? Yes even the national chain companies charge more in the oil fields.

You can make money in the oil field if your smart. You gotta pick the right company. If your scared of hard work you should look elsewhere. As far as food goes dont eat out. I been eating ham sandwhiches for about two months . It can be done

DPS Road Test

Man I was cheesing like a fat kid with a whole cake for himself.lol I also got a 90 on my backing test today for the school. I was upset that I couldn't pull out that 100 percent. June 8 I have drivers training with new company in the mountains and off-road in mountain country. Nervous going to be hauling a water tanker!!! Any advice for this adventure?

Rider Program

Cat stopping making motors for other companies. They are in the research and development area for designing a dump truck line and there is talk of them coming out with their own semi tractor. Just what I heard around the camp fire. That is why the Pete's at TMC are rolling cummins engines.

Have Job Interview!!!!

I have an interview with a small trucking company in Washington state hauling water to forest fires this summer in a big rig! Cool thing is i will get mountain experience and off road driving experience. Told the fella I was green behind the ears, but he said with my military experience he would train me. Super motivated.

Starting school on May 6 with ATDS trucking school in Elm Mott,tx

So I aced the other tests with ease. The only one that was tricky was general knowledge. Have started driving a little learned to shift through the gears and back down. Also learned how to straight line back, and couple and uncoupling. Learned how to do pre-trip and post trip inspections. Then all day Friday for those that were done with dot tests we learned logging and trip planning. I like the Rand McNally atlas. Planning a trip is similar to planning a combat patrol. Proper Planning Prevents **** Poor Performance is the motto I live by. Lots of regulations to learn but everything is going well. Glad I chose the private school route, because the instructors are doing a good job. Will keep you all updated sometime next week.

Werner

A recruiter came to see us a school today spitting a good game. I was wondering if anyone has any personal experiences with their company policies and keeping good on what they say. I have heard some bad reviews of the company, more than I have from other big companies. Some expert and honest advice is needed. I liking Werner, Schneider, and Gordon trucking. Also like TMC.

High road is awesome

So I am done with CDL written tests. I passed the rest yesterday. Feels awesome. Starting working on backing today, i am amazed at how fast school is going. Is it normal to have all written tests the first three days of school? Well I am getting a good amount of actual drive time so that is awesome.
