May Trucking Brand New Driver Layton, UTAH
On the 22nd of December 2015 I graduated from sage trucking school.
Last Tuesday I began my truck driving career with May Trucking out of there Layton terminal. So far I have to say it has been a great experience! Getting into trucking I was very worried about it being too "macho" for me, even my dad advised me to think long and hard about it. But again I have so far had a brilliant experience, everyone is nicer than when I was working indoors at sales/customer service. It feels as if I have been adopted into another family :) Looking forward to getting out with my trainer end of this week and going solo with my partner and boxer dog soon after that, fingers crossed my brilliant experience to this point does not change.
If you have any questions about my experience with May so far feel free to contact me and I will respond soon as I can.

Should I pursue the trucking industry?
I just recently decided to get into trucking. Graduating from Sage trucking school soon and looking forward to getting started. I decided to jump into for specific reasons, #1 being I am tired of sitting behind a desk in a little cubicle for $10 to $15 an hour and spending most of my money on rent and the rest on bills. With trucking I am able to get rid of my rent payment. The money I save from not paying rent goes directly to accomplishing my Main goal of buying a Truck & Travel Trailer. I don't want to be tied down to rent contract of any kind anymore. Once I have the truck and Trailer I will drive local or part time for someone just to maintain what I have. So from a totally inexperienced person joining the industry, I say only do it if it makes total sense for you. Look at the entire picture and make your decision. Again I have no experience, listen to those in the industry and know how it works. I feel its going to work well for me and my goals.

Best truck company to bring Passenger and Pet?
Hey everyone hope your all staying safe out there on the road. I had a question for you all. Do any of you know who has the best program for a passenger and pet to join me in the truck? Basically who will allow it to happen the soonest? I graduate Sage Trucking school in a couple weeks :) Looking for a company I can bring a rider and pet, yet also don't have to drive to many weeks with a trainer. Being with a stranger has be feeling anxious/nervous

Best Flatbed companies for a new student
Thank you for all the great information! I'm excited to go into Flatbed for the challenge and physical aspect of it. I have been looking closely into Both Melton and Western. I don't much pay attention to online reviews do to the fact so many are bogus. I sold programs for an online commerce company and learned all about online reviews. Getting information from you all is helping me greatly! I am leaning toward Melton at this time do to the fact it seems thy pay a little better in several areas. Now looking at Jones Brothers almost makes me want to live in Montana, what beautiful setting in Missoula, MT. Melton seems to be the best fit at this point, but I also have a couple more weeks of school which gives me time to decide and research further :)
Thanks again for your input on this!

Best Flatbed companies for a new student
I am currently going through Sage Trucking School in Sandy, UT. I'm very open to relocating my home base, Utah doesn't have chains on me ;) Scheduled to graduate about the 1st to 2nd week in December. Would love some advice from you drivers about what company or companies I should consider. My main interest is Flatbed so I can be a little more physical in the job, also having the ability to have a rider and pet with me is the other key deciding factors. I also have a passport if that helps. I appreciate any information you all have and have the upmost respect for what you do! Can't wait to join you on the open road :)

May Trucking Brand New Driver Layton, UTAH
May's training period is pretty much based on your skills. There is a check list that needs to be filled out while with your trainer, once that is done your basically ready to head back to base and solo out. They say normally most Solo in 3 weeks, some have done it sooner and some longer. I am currently in "extended training" at the Layton location as they are waiting for a trainer to become available. We have been practicing backing, hours of service & city driving. May has treated us to lunch everyday so far :)
Happy I am currently with May Trucking.
