Carrying a Weapon in a CMV

Hi, the rules that were hammered in me during CDL school were no weapons allowed on a commercial vehicle (especially guns); however, my instructor always stated that wasp spray is good up to 12 feet. My take is whatever you use...don't get caught with it or have a lock box tucked somewhere.
