Passed my CDL test on Jan. 4th, 2016. Sponsored by PAM Transport and Driver Solutions. Went to CDL school at Career Tech out of Lakeland, FL. Heading out for orientation on Jan. 18th in Tontitown, AR.---Orientation complete. Overall, I had a class score of 93% for the week. Waiting in Irving, Texas for my mentor to pick me up for my 14 day OTR evaluation. 2/23/2016--Out running my own company truck as a solo driver. Really wish I could team up for the extra set of eyes while backing up. Still very nervous about parking. Other than that, I'm doing okay (I think). 3-28-16 Have been out on my own for a 1 1/2 months now.

Which companies have driver facing cameras?
I have been with PAM Transport as a rookie driver for just over 2 months now and they don't have any cameras as far as I can tell.

What do you/will you miss the most?
I will miss seeing, being with, my daughter and wife almost everyday...blah, blah, blah. But, whom I will miss is the most is my puppa girl, Dolce. There she is in all her sleepy gloriousness.

Some early lessons during driver training
Hey, George:
Some very good pointers, especially lowering the seat to let your legs rest naturally.
I just bought two more sets of work gloves earlier today. Now I have three.
Stay safe out there.

How's the pay for rookies over at Pam?
CT,
Not sure yet, as I haven't started with PAM. But Driver Solutions' (the company that finds potential drivers for PAM) website says that a first year rookie driver running solo can make up to 35k, rookie team drivers can make up to 40k and rookie team HAZMAT drivers can make up to 50k.
It also says that you will need to sign a 12 month work contract and team drive for a minimum of 6 months, but getting a HAZMAT endorsement will maximize earnings (This is also contingent on going through PAM's sponsored school training.)
I'm as rookie as a rookie can be, so I'll be learning as I go.
Hope this helps.

When you get to Tontitown hit me up. I live 3 miles from the PAM Yard.
Hey, Bolt.
Sounds like a plan.

After considering all companies & the ones that fit my needs I think I have decided that I will go with SWIFT! I think this will be a good starter company for me. Also I have just downloaded Brett's mobile Android App to start practicing for my CDL permit. Is the app pretty much like the website? I prefer an app so whenever I have downtime at my job or when I'm home not doing anything I can just open the app & study! Also Brett I thank you for this! If all goes well I plan to leave out for training with Swift February 15th!
Theron, congrats. Exciting, isn't it?
I just got my CDL A on Jan. 4th and will be heading out to PAM Transport on Jan. 18th for orientation.
Good luck and keep your eyes on the road!
