Diversity of Equipment

Swift is arguably one of the companies with the most variety of driving positions.

Hey bro, that's what I figured too, thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, prime has reefer, flatbed and tanker. Probably worth a look.

This is true. And 3% of our freight is Hazmat, such as detergents and paints.

Heavy haul, doubles, car haulers will all be more dangerous for newer drivers and so specialized i seriously doubt you will find them at a starter/training company.

Thanks sis!

From Company truck driver to owner operator questions

Hey all, I have a thought. If somebody saved up enough to buy, let's say, a $30,000.00 truck, with straight cash, and they saved up, like a $60,000.00 maintaiance account, and they saved up, like a $15,000 insurance account, and they save up, like a $15, 000.00 tax account, and they saved up, like a $40,000.00 anti-factoring account. And, another $10,000 for misc expenses, like IFTA fees. Is it possible, to run a profitable trucking company, then¿ Given, that one gets slightly below average freight rates? And, they keep on top, of their maintaince, with preventative maintaince, rather than reactive maintaince. Look, I like to entertain ideas, alright. There has got to be a profitable business model, for this, guys. Also, what other fees are missing? Dare you entertain this?

Diversity of Equipment

Hi all, So, I'm wondering. What is the best company sponsored training company, that has the most diverse equipment, such as: flatbed, heavy haul, oversized, tanker, hazmat, combination, doubles and triples, specialized, reefer, dry van, car hauler, etc. The idea is to test everything, possible, to see what's enjoyable.

Thanks in advance!

Pre-Trip Inspection - My Way! A must see!

Hey bro, your pictures are extremely valuable in learning the pre-trip, without a tractor/trailer, and I am VERY thankful for what you did! Do any of you all know of a book or books, that could be used, to go deeper, beyond the minimum checks. For instance, when checking the oil level, it is wise, to check out how thick or thin the oil is. That is not mentioned, in the class A manual. It is better to fix a problem, early, than having down time, which equals death of the business, or bordering on it.

Thanks in advance, all!

Life On The Road (training)

Hey Errol, you said above, "Particular arrangements depend on your mentor. You should have storage for your own food, including cooler if your mentor has one."

I was wondering, is glass a bad idea to use in trucks. For instance, would it be a bad idea to use a glass 5 gallon bottle to store water in, while the truck is moving. Also, for storage, would it be a bad idea to use the Pyrex glass containers with glass top and silicon lid seal inside a freezer, while the truck is moving. Any insight that anybody has on these two inquiries would be greatly appreciated. As, I am trying my best to keep my health in tact. Thanks guys

List of Questions to ask a Recruiter

Hey Daniel, I guess that these questions are going to have to be asked the hard way. Is there a way to contact the carrier directly, thereby bypassing the recruiter.

Failed my backing tests again! Ugh!

Hey Travis, thanks for encouraging me! I LIKE your attitude. Nobody put a time limit on you when you were learning to walk. I'm glad that you don't have a jerk company not willing to train you properly who all they want to do is suck up your money. Road master, you say? Maybe Road master is not a jerk company.
