Garmin vs Rand Mcnally

I have a Garmin and I do like it but I have found Google Maps on my phone to be more reliable. Sometimes my Garmin tells me it cant find the address I type in and sometimes it takes me a less desirable route. What I do like about the Garmin is it telling me how many miles to my destination, informs me when I'm 5 miles from the next state border or scale house and it displays the speed limit which is handy when you get off the interstate. I use the Garmin mostly on the highway with map verification and then compare it with Google maps and directions I get from the customer.

Strapping pipe

I had a load of 16" steel pipe, four across the deck and stacked 3 high. I forget the length but the load was 47000 lbs. 4 x 4's separated each stack and they nailed the little cleats on the outside of the 4 x 4's to help hold the pipes in place. Are any straps required on each row or was it just required over the top.

Learning securement

My first 8.5 years driving was with a curtain side with very light loads. My last 6 months has been delivering cement mixer drums which are not all that heavy and are secured for me but the back hauls can be very heavy and many different products. Where can I find more info on proper securement. I need confidence that I'm doing my job properly. I've been searching the internet with some success but I don't always know what I'm going to run into on the road.
