What if you break it down a little bit? Take off the seat and front tire, mount the frame in one place, the tire in another, and the seat inside?

I'm glad this topic was brought up because I had just gotten into mountain biking (I say mountain loosely as there are NO mountains in Louisiana...) this passed spring and was hoping for a way to get back into it once all the training is over. I also plan on bringing my hiking boots with me to!

There is a guy on here earlier who attached it to the back of the cab and one of the handle bars bored a hole through his cab. If you bring your boots don't forget to treat them periodically with waterproofing spray so they will last longer. I treat mine every time I am home.

Don't do what I did (doesn't every good response start with those words?!).

I stored my bike on the back of the cab above the spare tire. The bike's rear tire rested on the spare tire and I bungied the bike to the metal bars and brackets on the back of the cab. Seemed to work pretty well. Keeping the bike so close to the cab kept it from brushing up against the trailer during turns, even when I pulled reefers.

Well, I didn't use my bike for several weeks and had it bungied up there pretty tight. The metal handle bar was pushed up against the back of the cab. The vibrations caused it to bore through the rubber on the end of the handle bar and actually bore a small hole in the back of the cab.

Suffice it to say, I don't carry a bike there anymore. I sincerely hope the ridicule I receive from this is worth the help it potentially provides others.

That info is invaluable! Thanks! I have had quite a few people recommend doing this exact thing. So it looks like I'm top bunking it.

I'm thinking of buying one of those Folding Bicycles. I've been looking on Amazon. Need to do some research. It should fit on the floor in front of the passenger seat.

I was just talking to a bike shop yesterday regarding the fold up bikes. They were saying the ones worth purchasing are extremely over priced. I looked into them when I was in school and there are no reviews from people who have purchased them that I could find. All reviews I have located are written by manufacturer. There are some really lightweight bikes that have a quick release on the front and rear tires to make them easier to lift and fit places.

Sara, Look on Amazon. I have a tendency to trust Amazon Reviews. Not if there are only 5 or 6, but if there are 50+ or several hundred I run with it. Also, they have a real good return policy in most cases. Bike shops can be real spendy.

I did originally and my problem with Amazon is that they also gave reviews on clothes from China and the measurements were way off. I don;t even think the ones that should have fit me would have fit my 12 yr old niece.

If you do bring a bike there are free catalogs you can order for bicycling adventures https://www.vbt.com/. Also I know from living in Denver.CO that you can look up the trails here on google maps. I was riding 30+ miles a day here for a long time. You can also order all the outdoor brochures online to your residence.

How about a unicycle?

lol No unicycle. You can't mountain bike on a unicycle.

What about stowing it on the top bunk?

I'm trying to avoid stowing on the top bunk because my bicycle gets really dirty, and you know that no access to a hose can screw the idea of spraying mud off.
