Tramadol? Will You Test Positive?
I was searching for information, pre UA, and the information was finding was all over the place. I asked 2 DOT Ocupational Medicine doctors. One was the actual doctor I recieved my physical from. I have a chronic pain from a shoulder injury. I bounce between Tramadol, Celbrex, Volterin cream, Flector patches and Lidocane patches. So I'm not taking them all the time and won't be when driving even though I have no adverse effects. I was concerned because I took 2 the night before.
Anyway, NO! Tramadol will not test positive on the DOT drug screen. However, Tramadol is now a Schedule IV dangerous controlled substance. You cannot operate your truck if you are taking it at the time or continuously for chronic pain because it is scheduled.
Worth noting, the medical personnel are not "allowed", by law to ask you which medications you are taking. They can ask about any health conditions, surgeries, hypertension etc...
That is what I know in Arkansas, other states I do not know. I passed it today but my blood pressure was elevated I'm sure because I was concerned.
Be safe, stay alive guys and gals. Maybe I'll see you out there soon.
