Corn, Corn, Corn!

The Ed Sullivan show, saw Beatles debut, then the JFK fiasco. Watch Bonanza and the other oldies Town had a square, just like Andy's Mayberry. Gramps had a 1955 red & white chevy in the barn, apple trees along the front property line at the dirt road. I got in trouble climbimg the tree biting apples m tossin' em on the ground............Man 61 years ago, still ya never forget hahaha

I’m about a year older than you but oddly (to me) don’t remember much about JFK getting shot, and even though we watched Ed Sullivan, I don’t remember seeing the Beatles. We did watch Bonanza, Mayberry RFD, I Love Lucy, and Lassie.

Wish I could have your Gramp’s ‘55 Chevy. One of my favorite cars!

Is the market against new truck drivers in Tucson, AZ?

Knight Transportation’s school is in Phoenix. Not sure who else is located there that provides training.

With Knight, you are an employee the day you start training. Not sure the weekly pay while in school but it was $480/week when I went there in ‘21. It bumps up as soon as you go out with a trainer.

Corn, Corn, Corn!

at one point I knew all of the lyrics to all of the songs. (Sometimes there wasn’t a lot to do for kids living in rural Mississippi in the 60’s). I also got to see it performed by a traveling Broadway troupe a few years ago up in Lubbock at Texas Tech. As nerdy as it sounds - it was really good!

No judgements from here. I knew all the lyrics too. I raised three daughters who loved the old musical genre of movies. I've seen Oklahoma hundreds of times. Here's another cult-like musical they loved... Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. I had that thing memorized too.

My kids had an unusual non-traditional upbringing, but they've all turned out real well. Out of three daughters, I now have 9 grandchildren with 2 more on the way. The grandchildren are even more fun.

Oh yes, I remember Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. IDK how many times I’ve seen the movie. This is mostly due to having one TV station we could get - WTOK, Meridian, Mississippi. It was either watch what was on that, or nothing at all. When we moved to the DFW area we could get the three networks plus an independent station and the public station too! It was awesome!

Unrelated to musicals, but about music - the first album I saved up to buy in 1970 was Cosmo’s Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Ding, Ding, Ding...

Bush Country wins the prize! A corn on the cob dinner from me, but first you've got to find me!

I don't think we've heard from you for a while. How are things going in the oil field?

The oil patch is good. At least for me and the company I consult for. Currently frac’n on nights.

My mom had the LP of the original Rodgers & Hammerstein Broadway musical, so at one point I knew all of the lyrics to all of the songs. (Sometimes there wasn’t a lot to do for kids living in rural Mississippi in the 60’s). I also got to see it performed by a traveling Broadway troupe a few years ago up in Lubbock at Texas Tech. Corn, Corn, Corn!

Do you remember that line from the movie, Second Hand Lions?

I've been running the Midwest states lately, and corn is all I see. Man we produce a lot of corn!

The good thing about seeing all this corn is that it indicates football season is about to start.

Who recognizes where this line comes from? "The Corn is as high as an elephant's eye, and it looks like it's reaching right up to the sky!

The broadway play and movie “Oklahoma”.

NEWBIE NOT SURE WHICH COMPANY IS RELIABLE

I see that you are in Texas. There’s an extra chapter (14) in the Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook that you will be tested on. If I remember correctly it is the first section of 20 questions on the test. You must pass this section in order to proceed with the rest of the exam. Biden Handed Out CDLs Like Candy... Now US Highways Are A Public & National Security Nightmare!

In the Permian Basin, for the past two days during the DOT blitz we have had a major slowdown in sand and CNG deliveries. On a normal day we might have <30 minutes of non-pumping time (NPT) for frac operations. We’ve had over 6 hours/day the past two days waiting on these deliveries. I don’t know what they’ve been dinging drivers/trucks for, but it’s had an impact.

I didn’t know when the requirement for English stopped being enforced or that a federal memorandum caused it. Here in the Permian Basin I’d say that about 80% of the frac sand haulers and vacuum truck drivers speak no English. I had put that down to our proximity to the border. It’s frustrating but I’ve slightly improved my limited Spanish and become very proficient with google translate.

If the drivers were safe and efficient at their jobs it would bother me less, but they seem to delight in taking out fences and cattle guards.
