DOT Drug Testing: Urinalysis or Hair Follicle?

Question: Was a casual smoker (cpl times a month) up until two years ago at which time I quit. My hair is long and am not worried about any testing of 1 1/2 inches of hair, but if it is longer will they test for longer or just the standard 1 1/2 inches? Yes, I know I can simply cut it, but do not want to do so if the standard 1 1/2 inches is all that will be done.

If you have been clean for two years plus, I would not worry about it. From what I understand they can only test back for six months. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Starting to doubt if I should continue pursuing trucking as a career

How are you driving 13-15hrs a day ? I had to ask. Sounds like you are worrying so much that you are putting undo stress on yourself. One of the first things you need to do is relax. Going through training is one of the most stressful events, followed up by the first few months of being solo. Use every day as a learning experience and dont get over stressed. You can do it, everyone started out with the same problems. Make sure your trainer has you doing all the backing. Anyone can drive down the highway at 60 mph, but being able to hit the dock is the money maker.

DOT Drug Testing: Urinalysis or Hair Follicle?

I have a question about OTC Dietary Supplement. I take Melatonin 3mg sometimes at night to help with sleep. As far as I know, I do not see where this would cause a problem with DOT premployment drug screen. Does anybody have any info on this? I did a Google search and came up with several different answers. Some say no problem, others say false positive on Suboxion. I do not believe where Melatonin would hit for that, but I dont want any surprises.

"Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine"

I can see 6-10 over, but 1-5 is total BS. Radar guns could be off, etc. Sounds like $$$$$ grabber to me.

Ghetto shut down locations

That's why I have a CCW permit. I'm not out looking to go shoot someone for the hell of it, but I will defend myself or die trying. It's a shame that some shippers/receivers know they are in an area where drivers have been robbed or killed, and they will still turn you away to fend for yourself.

DAC Report-Length of time

You can go to Hireright website and request a free copy of your DAC report. If your not in too much of a hurry it will take about 12-14 days to receive it. This way you will know what companies are going to see. Like Rick S. said any information will be on there for 7-10 years.

Yes it does. Takes a lot of guess work out when logging.

Peoplenet

I used Peoplenet and never had a problem. A lot has to do with the way the company has it set up. Overall it was driver friendly system. One of the pros I did like was it would not automatically change your status unless you started driving, unless you went past 5 miles. Everything else you had to tell it what to do. As with any elog system, you have to get used to the way it works.
