@Copperhead, you are correct. I read a relevant article on this topic which completely agrees with your comment that they need a driver onboard.

But driver’s actions will be limited to client handling and at emergency situations. Companies don’t need an experienced driver to handle such automated trucks. I believe that this may also reflect on our packages. Major truck manufacturers from Europe and America have already shown their interest on these trucks and experts says that they will be on the market within a decade.

Can I have some little space?confused.gif . Autonomous trucks will only help companies to layoff their drivers. I know that using GPS and RFid techniques they can automatically reduce the speed at cities or at speed zones. Going automatic will be economical for companies in terms of fuel consumption and salary expenses. May be it will not affect us , I am sure new babies in this field will definitely be screwed by this technology.sorry.gif . I watched a documentary from National Geography that a man is just simply sitting on back seat and the car is moving through heavy traffic with even a single scratch. embarrassed.gif

Since they will be required to have a driver onboard at all times, I don't think they will necessarily be a job killer. Wages might be seriously affected though, and not for the better.

They will soon or later replace our position.
