Trip planning regards to routes

QC will make you avoid toll roads and sometimes send through a local town or whatever. I follow my gamin GPS instead. I don't care if they save money because they don't care about my miles. **** 'em

4 day with out a shower

There are a lot of stinky *******s in this profession. I went out w/a trainer that would rather spend a couple of hours at Walmart shopping for food and clothes for his family in Kazakhstan than shower. Once I got brave enough to park at a truck stop I just went and showered. He politely told me this kinda time would be better spent at a Walmart. I politely disagreed. He told me that when he drove solo he didn't shower for 2-3weeks at a time. The only response I had for him was "Why?"

Garmin issues

Personally I just follow my Garmin 770 and use Google maps (sat view) for the last mile or so. Also look around your final destination area. Follow other trucks if any and use common sense. I hated company QC navs because they try to route you through non-toll roads and are more primitive than truck specific GPS.

What did you do before becoming a truck driver?

I had a wholesale durable goods company for over 13 years. I intend to have several trucks within the next 5 years and have my own transport business. I hate making money for other people when you can make it all for yourself

Rook here

Greeting everyone, I've recently decided to get into truck driving, as a career change. I got my CDL mid May and am now going though Schneider 3 week training program. So far I'm enjoying it immensely and looking forward to driving. I have been lurking on this forum for a few month and found it to be a great resource with a wealth of information. Thanks Mike
