Leaving for school Oct 19 2013
Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I can see why Brett said about doing the log book section! Talk about overwhelming. I will be studying this every day. I know I will pass the permit ....again... I am pretty confident I can do the driving portion too. The only thing I am worried about is being sent home for something stupid like paper work since my recruiter isn't very helpful. Just to be sure I am taking extra stuff that MIGHT come up such as a doctors note saying my medicine won't interfere with driving. I am also using the training here more than the stupid eGears the company uses. Better information here. It's going to be a long trip (23hrs) due to lay overs but that just means plenty of time to study so I can relax and adjust to my surroundings when I get there. I know I can do this! It's been a lifelong dream and if I do fail I'm not giving up

Leaving for school Oct 19 2013
Finally leaving for school with C1/Driver Solutions on the 19th! Classes start on the 21st. So far I'm not nervous but I'm sure that will change lol. My confidence level is fairly high and have been reading all the advice on here. I'm going to try and update everyone on my progress as often as I can. Now to enjoy my last few days at home...... :)

I'm glad this topic was brought up! I'm going to starting school soon and my family brought this topic up with me. Personally I'm not really concerned with personal safety. I've always handled myself well. BUT as my family said there is always a first time for everything. My choice of "weapon" is going to be a mag light and tire thumper. They weren't to pleased with this answer but because of all the different laws I personally think those 2 are the best choice for me

Question on CDL permit & DOT & school
Thank you for your wisdom! I'm really not to happy with this recruiter I have. He just doesn't seem like he really cares if I apply or not. So I found myself questioning what he told me. I knew I'd get better answers here than from him. That being said his lack of knowledge has me a little on edge about the school. I've read good things on the school but I'm just not certain it is for me. I've been considering calling and asking to have a different recruiter. Is that a good idea or could it cause a problem?

Question on CDL permit & DOT & school
I just talked with a recruiter with Driver Solutions. I told him I already have my permit in PA and he told me that it's only good in PA! So why did Prime tell me it was better to have it BEFORE I go to their school? I also have my DOT physical filed here in PA does that mean I have to do that again too? This is so frustrating! I was turned down by Prime because I was a stay at home mom for 24 years before I started working this year. Driver Solutions is the only one who said it will not be a problem. Help please?

Thanks Starcar and Brett! I haven't stopped reading and learning. I do want to be "ahead" when I go for training because the out of the class room stuff is so important. My biggest issue right now is schooling. My local school already told me I can't get any funding for school so that leaves me with a company schooling. So I'm doing lots of research on which one to choose. I'm always on here reading. lol I'm just glad I found this place!

Thanks Old School. This is the best site I've found by far. This will be the first place I come with questions because everyone has helpful advice. I've had a friend let me drive his Freightliner tow truck to get my feet wet and he said I was a natural. My next "session" with him he hooked a trailer to a regular truck and left me practice backing. I felt I didn't do well but he assured me I did. What a difference from his truck! Just that little experience gave me the confidence to continue with my permit. I am so thank full that he took the time and answered my questions and gave me advice, I'm just hoping that when I find the right school the trainers are just as helpful and patient. I certainly will post my progress.

Thank you for the excellent advice and training materials. I used your High Road Training Program along with my state training manual to get my CDL permit and passed on the first try! Thank you so much!

Thanks Starcar! I've already been checking out the ladies forum and got lots of ideas that helped with my packing. I know I can do this and it helps that everyone is so positive and helpful here. My first place to go for help!
