Just completed training at Sage Truck Driving School

I finished orientation yesterday at Senn Freight Lines and head out with my trainer this weekend. Orientation was good. We had the opportunity to meet and work with management and learned a great deal about the company. We also got to drive a little yesterday. I am very happy with my decision to go with Senn and am looking forward to getting out on the road. The journey begins...

Just completed training at Sage Truck Driving School

Hi all,

This is my first post but I have been lurking for a while :-)

I finished up at Sage in Lexington, SC on Sunday and got my license on Tuesday. I have nothing but good things to say about the training that I received. The trainers were all top notch. They were patient, allowed us enough space to learn from our mistakes, and were more than happy to answer our endless questions about life on the road.

I have received pre-hires from Swift and Superservice, but decided to go with a local flatbed company; Senn Freight out of Newberry, SC. I like the idea of being able to get out of the truck and do some "hands-on" work. I start orientation in two weeks followed by four weeks with a trainer on the road. One of the great things about training with Senn is that we will be home most weekends. After that I will be solo OTR and can't wait.

This is a career change for me. I have been in sales for the past 20 yrs. Being a professional driver has always intrigued me (two of my uncles were drivers and I had the opportunity to ride along a few times) but it never seemed the right time to switch careers. I got laid off and May and that was my opening. I was able to get funding for school through a local retraining program and here I am. Unbelievable! I am so excited for this next phase of my life.

I appreciate this site and the wealth of info here for a new guy breaking into the business. Keep up the great work and see you on the road!

Bob
