Charlie C.'s Bio

My trainer said I was a very good and safe driver. however it was an automatic Volvo so it was not really a big deal.

I just finished my 4 weeks OTR training but they have a no pets policy, so I had to leave them.

I can only work on a 1099 but NOT on a W2 because of my current immigration status

Don't Quit!

Thank you for the motivation which I just needed..

I'm a new driver just finished my 4 weeks OTR Training (student/trainer with Volvo automatic transmission) The company (and "I") felt confident enough to decide that i now can drive solo..

But then they told me that they have a no pet policy :-( another negative is that I am German Citizen legally in the US per E2 Visa which means I can only work on a 1099 as Independent Contractor.. so I couldn't get hired with the bigger companies since they need to hire as a company driver on a W2 which I am not allowed because it has social benefits (social security etcetera..)

Well I'm kinda stuck and since I was driving taxis and limos before I started CDL A i just got back to driving taxis :-(

If I could just find a smaller type of "owner operator" company I would be a perfect fit since I wanted to literally live in the truck, just work work work and save up some money to buy or lease my own truck within 2 years.

I looked everywhere, Craigslist and here as well, finding a job as a new driver is already hard enough, but if you also have a cat and can only work on a 1099 it seems almost impossible..

Thanks to the motivational post I will now even look harder and i appreciate anybody who eventually has a idea where else i could apply.

"failure is not an option"
