Considering A Career

Looking to start a career in truck driving. Eventually want to get into team driving with my husband but I will be first. Hopefully our relationship lasts thru this whole thing. Kinda scary reading some of the things about relationships and that this industry has a 90% divorce rate. I think knowing this up front and both of us being very aware of how much time I will be away will help.
I am currently with USPS as a Mail Carrier but am considered a temporary even though work 40+ hours a week. Have been considered this for more than 2 years and am just tired of it. Have the worst health insurance possible. Pay almost $700 a month for just health insurance. No dental and no vision.
Everyone says how great it is to work for the post office and that it is a career you can retire from but unfortunately that was only for people who started years ago. Now it takes 40+ years just to earn enough to retire. I will be 38 in September and really want to get into a career that I can see myself doing for the rest of my life.
Excited and scared to get this going ASAP.

When you spoke with the recruiters at Jim Palmer did they say that you needed to loose weight before you could start if your bmi was above 38? You did say something about the in one of your first posts so just wondering?

So I am wondering what options you have if you are over the bmi required by dot or company? Can you get your dot physical on your own and then pay for your own study and then go to training? What if you fail sleep study and have to use a cpap can you still go thru the training or are you automatically disqualified? This is something that has stopped me from continuing to follow thru with the application process

Jim Palmer cdl training
I guess my issue is that they keep calling at the worst times. I deliver mail and really is hard to talk and work. I took awhile to call them back but recently have been talking to them everyday. Today recruiter told me he had to send application up to be approved. Not really sure what that means but am thinking verifying work and references. Then he said they do multiple interviews. Might be that I am working with someone who is mainly Wil trans but told me he does recruiting for both but not sure. Thinking of calling jim palmer directly and not go thru this guy but not sure what to do
