I was a Trucker for many years, after driving 3/4 million miles I became the retention manager / recruiter for that same major company. My years of experience has taught me a lot about the trucking world, from the Do's & Dont's to enjoying all the truck shows every year to seeing friendly faces out on the road. But the one thing that sets me aside from most is I spend a lot of time with my drivers when recruiting them, because I believe that being honest with a person will allow me to feel good, let me sleep good at night knowing I helped someone somehow to get a job that makes them feel rewarding. Now don't get me wrong I don't agree that there is all good companies out there but I also will not talk negative about any of them, I am a positive person who always tries to turn negative into a positive situation.
I believe my passion for this industry has grown inside of me since I sat in my Grandfathers truck back in the late 60's which was a 5 & 2 two gear shift handles & your basically steered with your knee.
I may not have all the answers but the ones I do have I promise will be the God's Honest truth.
I am personally an independent recruiter who works currently with some great major companies along with a few mom & pop companies that have grown larger but still have that family like feeling to there company.
My biggest Advice for new CDL drivers is please don't just jump in any truck with just any company do you homework like you did to obtain that license. just don't want you to get a bad first impression of the trucking industry and give it up, there's a lot of great companies out there.. Have Fun & Be Safe Out there
