I have been an electrician for 20 years but the construction industry is going downhill. I'm currently signed up to start training in Ft. Worth on August 29 for PAM trucking. I've had my permit before about 12 years ago and practiced in my buddies truck when he was in town but that's all been washed away by conduit fill and voltage drop calculations. I entered into management only to find the seething underbelly of a trade I used to love and took great pride in but pride in your work has been overtaken by the bottom line, ridiculous schedules and getting what you can out of an employee just to lay him off at the end of the job. I would tell my apprentices "when I was your age I would work circles around the older guys!" but now I AM the older guy! It is time for a change to either sit behind a desk or sit behind the wheel of a two stack mack with a flatbed on the back!! Or something along those lines!!! I'm looking into the private school sector to try and find a way to not drive teams when I graduate as I will be taking my little buddy Dexter with me because he loves to ride too!

My experiences starting a new career in trucking, Houston Texas
I find your story very interesting as I am looking for the same thing e.g. no teams after training and being able to take my dog as a solo. Keep up the good work!!!
