Roehl Get Your CDL program through different eyes. 👀

That sucks. I was considering Roehl but they want a 120k mile commitment. While there is value in training, there is risk to both the driver and the company. I feel that it is a heftier risk to a driver who may not be able to recover from the expense if there turns out to be anything that puts a kink in the plan. I decided to go with a local school and a company that will hire new grads and reimburse the tuition without an obligatory commitment. I am not sure that I trust a company that wants to lock me into a commitment because it makes me wonder why they have to chain me up to keep me. The other side of that could simply be that they want to secure their investment but if its as it was promised, why would anyone come and then take off? How is the new company working out?

Online/Frontier Transport cdl training

Hey Brian, so sorry to hear that this didn't work out for you. I'm looking into online as well and wondering if you could share some details. I can't find their payrates on the website and the cost of tuition if a driver can't keep the full year commitment.

Anyone here ever drive for Jim Palmer?

I'm considering Jim Palmer Transport for my training and getting my feet wet. I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with them that they can share. They seem to fit my needs but I'm looking for a little more depth of understanding so I can go confidently into the horizon.

Hey, thanks for the input everyone. I am working on a sitter for him so he can be in his own space while I am in training. I will see if I survive training and when it's time to introduce him to the truck, we will play it by ear with his comfort level. He is one of my biggest priorities so my work and his life have to compliment each other smoothly. There may be a decision later involving OTR or local, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Haha Nancy- he loves stealing caps! 13698108_10208796987393598_1000109371672

Hi everybody. I've been reading TT and taking it all in. I'm considering some changes in life and contemplating getting my cdl and going on the road. I've had my puppy since he was 8 weeks old and we have never been separated other than twice for an overnight. I don't know which one of us it was hardest on. Im currently in real estate and he rides along in my (his) suburban everywhere I go. I pulled a rather lengthy list of companies from TT that will allow my guy to keep working with me but can't find a way to accommodate the training portion. Anyone know anything that can be helpful to survival for a potential newbie and her pup?
