Why does my truck auto idle up?

double-quotes-start.png

I own a 2013 volvo (volvo engine). I idle at 600 rpm. Tonight for some reason my truck auto idles up to 1200 rpm. Why? Also i can't bring the rpm down without shutting off the truck.

I know that some trucks without APUs have autostart and other features that are designed to accomplish the things that APUs do, like charging batteries, keeping engine coolant temperatures above freezing, circulating and heating diesel fuel, etc.

However, I have zero specific knowledge of such features in Volvos.

It may be a good idea to check with a Volvo shop. It could be something as simple as a bad sensor.

Since it's a 2013 model, do you still have a warrantee on the engine?

I only have a 90 day warrantee from the dealership which is still good.

I'll definitely check with volvo. Thx.

Why does my truck auto idle up?

I can only set up my rpm to 700 thru cruise control.

I did let it idle at 1200rpm and after about 10 min it went back to normal. Truck idled at normal rpm range also for about 10 min and then right back to 1200. I didn't see any regen light pop up.

I'm owner op so i don't have answer to anybody. I just would like to hit the gym after driving so dropping the trailer for couple hours and bobtailing to the gym would be nice.

Let's clarify. Are you an O/O and run on your own authority, getting loads from a broker/ load board? The only people you would be accountable to are the shipper and the owner of the truck stop you drop the trailer at.

If you're an O/O that leases on to a company, you still need to work with the truck stop management, as well as follow company rules, since you are hauling their freight.

O/O authority! I deal with a broker. And I'm not worried if i don't inform my broker that i dropped the trailer.

Do truck stops allow for drivers to leave their trailers at the truck stops?
