My Training Diary with Central Refrigerated

Hey Dan, Hope all is well with you. I really enjoyed reading about your experiences of starting out on your trucking career. All of the ups and all of the DOWNS. It didn't seem like you held anything back. From the struggles that you had in learning to handle the truck. To the incredible mess that you had to put up with while with that trainer. And as a side note I do hope that this guy is no longer trying to fill this particular position. I really can't believe the crudeness of this trucker. But kudos to you for being the bigger person. So I do have a few questions for you though. Based on your schooling experience what should we pay really close attention to and please share the song that you made up so that I to can sing my way to acing that part of the test. Keep it save out there and please continue posting. Harry W.

Hey Daniel please give us new guys a breakdown. Such as how ur day started how long you drove when you took breaks how much sleep you got and if you fudged the logs any. But I think it is awesome and hope to do some hard driving once I get trained(safely of course) So keep it safe my young brother. Harry W.

Thanks to all my soon to be brothers

First let me say to all that sent me a response thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule. The advise was both timely and very informative. So after being turned down by a few more companies I will be starting with Con-Way hopefully this Monday. I still need to get the DOT physical done take the written exam part for the permit. So we are off and running finally. So the question is (I seem to always have questions) is does anyone know anything about this company and its school? I will try and keep up with the training and post it here so that anyone following will know what to expect. And for that matter anyone wanting to follow give me a shout and I will hook you up with my contact. So take care and keep it safe out there. Thanks, Harry W.

Roehl Transport Information

Hey everyone,

Just a quick question about company's. Is there anyone on here that is working for either Roehl or Con-way? Can you give me any incite into what it's like?

1. Pay 2. Miles 3. Equipment 4. Dispatchers 5. Anything else that you may deem important for a newbie to know

Thanks To All in advance, Harry W.

PS. What about the total cost of everything that came out of your pocket so that I know that I have enough money before applying

Help,Help Help

Ok guys here is another problem to help us wanna be truckers with. I was trying to go to work with Prime and found out today that they would not be able to help me. So I am turning to my soon to be I hope brothers in trucking. The problem I ran upon was verifying my last 3 years of employment. The long story short is.... I have been in business for myself and 3 1/2 years ago with the downturn of the economy and bad decisions on my part I had a friend that talked me into taking on a partner(some friend). Ended up being a nightmare. Again I did a stupid thing and trusted my friend and we did a verbal agreement(hand shake). I put the business into the name of the new business partners name only. (STUPID). I know this and wish I could take it back but... also l lost my home to foreclosure at this same time. I worked at the business but really didn't take any money out other than about $1000.00 per month trying to get it back on track. I have now filed suit against my formal partner but I have no way of providing 3 years of employment. I provided Prime with last 3 years of taxes which were not much. I also gave them a copy of the old business license and taxes that I had paid on behalf of the business to prove that I did own the business. But it was not enough for them. I in no way am wanting you to feel sorry for this old man(57) I knew better but did this thing anyway. I have made this bed and as uncomfortable as it is I will lay in it and do the best that I can. But I am a doer and not a complainer. So now I come to you guys and ask is there any other schools that you know of that I may contact that might take a chance on me. I am a very hard worker and have always strived to do the best at anything that I have attempted to do. I know that I will be a great trucker and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanking all your comments in advance. Harry W.
