Hello everybody. I have a question about CLP.
i am living in Ofallon MO.
I passed CDL A knowledge exam.
Now dmv not let me go to pre trip inspection and skill test exam. They told i need clp but on dmv website.
http://www.dmv.org/mo-missouri/apply-cdl.php
It says.
"Before you can apply for your commercial driver's license, you'll first have to get your commercial learner's permit (CLP). It's not required, but it is recommended, to enroll in a CDL training course, to help prepare you for the various exams and expectations involved in the commercial licensing process."
"It is not required, it is recommended"
if it is recommended so why i need bring it to DOR office??
"Once you have waited at least 14 days, and you feel comfortable driving a commercial vehicle, you can take the proper skills tests to get your full CDL. You'll have to schedule another appointment with the Missouri DOR office and bring: Your commercial learner's permit. The appropriate fees to have your CDL issued. While at the Department of Revenue, you will have to take the following skills tests: Pre-trip inspection. Basic vehicle control. On-road driving."
So Why i need to bring clp to DOR office if it is recommended not required?
Thanks.

Hello everybody. I have a question about CLP.
Thanks everybody. I understand.
I passed general knowledge, combination and air brakes.
I have experience to drive truck from other country.
To get CLP in state of Missouri i have to be employed and brig dmv letter from employer, like "he is employed", either way I can't go to DOR.
I alredy have company where i can work but they located in IL. That company works all of America. DMV wants only MO company.
So my problem now to find company who will hire me with no CDL A license and then wait when i pass DOR testing.
