Graduating this week from Central Tech in Drumright,OK. What an AWESOME school! Great staff, dozens of late model tractors and a huge variety of trailers...flatbeds,vans, tankers, etc.
Here's what I posted on Trucking Truth's Facebook page and it is absolutely the truth:
I did a LOT of research before entering a CDL School. Heard and read some real horror stories about schools both private and company sponsored. Find a school that is an ACCREDITED & PTDI certified school! Laws are changing and the PTDI Certification may become necessary. I found my best option at Central Tech in Drumright, OK. It's a state run accredited vocational school with PTDI Certification and an AMAZING staff of instructors. The campus is 40+ acres of blacktop roads and they have dozens of new and late model tractors and trailers for use by students. Out of state tuition is $4800 and resident is just $2800. Get an Oklahoma drivers license and you're considered a resident with no requirement for length of residency. You will be provided a room at a local hotel as part of your tuition. Nothing great but a bed nonetheless. The school is VERY respected by most companies. One of the best in the nation! By the way, you'll need a CDL-A Permit before attending the school. The High Road online CDL training course at TruckingTruth.com was a valuable resource for me in passing the written test for my CDL-A and endorsements before I went to Central Tech. USE IT!
Whether you are sponsored or paying out of your own pocket Central Tech is a great choice! No I don't work there or don't represent them in any way professionally. Just one happy alum!
