Is Driving In The Northeast Really That Bad?

I'm from Connecticut and I drive almost exclusively in New England/Tri-State area. Rush hour is terrible but other than that you can cruise the speed limit or just under fine. I can think of only 1 time I've been stuck in terrible traffic and that was in Chicago. I just don't get why the north east gets so much hate because I love it.

Name three things you love about your company

Quality Carriers - Chicopee MA

1. Management - My Terminal manager is fantastic he does everything for the drivers. 2. Benefits - Many options and reasonably priced with good coverage. 3. Safety oriented - I've been told many times if there is an issue stop until I'm comfortable with everything.

Game: Rookie Unrealistic Expectations

I would go the other way and have I had very low expectations from what I was told from my instructors at CDL school. I was told experience is everything and I would have to do at least one year OTR or Food service.

Luckily for me everything is going swell Im home all the time and I never do any hard labor I just hook up a hose.

The only thing is I thought it would be easier to find a place to park(New England) but it hasn't been too bad.

CDL schools with on-site driving tests

From what I understand the Florida CDL schools almost all do on site testing. If they dont I wouldn't worry about dealing with the DMV. Every CDL school I looked at set up your appointment so all you really do is just drive to the test site and drive the school's truck(when you are ready).

Thank you for the information!

Hello there Rick! I was hired straight from CDL school(only allowed because it was a federally accredited school),but I did have previous experience with tankers before getting my class A.

If you recently became an owner operator I'm pretty sure I have your truck. It has the picture of your avatar on the sleeper.

Thank you for the information!

I just started driving with Quality Carriers. I've been to orientation and I'm now receiving training at my local terminal. Just incase someone asks I'm a company driver for QC not an affiliate.

Thank you for the information!

Thank you everyone for the knowledge sharing I've been reading this site for months. I feel it's time I join the community get in on the conversation. Here is just a little about me. I started CDL school last fall and complete early this year 1&Done. Now I'm in company training for chemical tanks and loving it. I don't think I would have been able to land such a great position with out the help for the forum. Thanks dudes!
