Some of the biggest misconceptions about becoming a truck driver
How was the training different than you expected it to be?
I expected it to be strictly business, luckily it wasn't. It was a little laid back but my instructors were very good at making sure you learned while they made it interesting to learn. One had been driving since the mid 70s, one early to mid 80s and one late 90s. They (mostly the two older drivers) liked to throw in old stories as examples of things they learned the hard way out on the road pertaining to different laws. Their attitudes and personalities and way they spoke made me want to pay attention to everything.

Any Werner flatbed trainers here?
Do you know how transportation is handled after orientation but while waiting on a trainer? I can either drive myself down there and have my own truck anytime I need it but then have to leave it sitting 4.5 hrs from home for probably a month or more or I can have my wife drop me off and be without a ride for the several days I wait.

Yeah, according to the Greyhound schedule the bus doesn't get there till pretty late. I'm glad they offer transportation back and forth to the store. I'm also glad I may not have to wait long, the director at my driving school said he had never heard of Werner taking students fresh out of driving school for their flatbed.
