I'm seeing an uptick even on the Hazmat side of things. Miles are wracking up. Gonna get my platinum card within the next couple months if I keep churning out the miles.

Sounds like you read some good stuff. Which I fully agree with! In the Army I did plenty of road marches that when I let the suck reach me it was miserable, but when I kept a strong commitment to success those blisters or sore muscles didn't really feel that bad. The mind is a powerful force.

Today was a bit hectic and it brought to mind something I think is key that sometimes gets overlooked by new and old alike. Attitude.

So I've had a jam packed week, full of ups and downs. I was really looking forward to my reset and placed myself in a great location. 16 hours into my reset I get a call "hey, we've got a hot load that we need moving, somethings come up and you are closest. Can you assist?". So I check my hours and see I have 9 hours and 10 minutes left in my week. I snag the load info and see I have 8 hours to arrive, hook, and make it to the shipper. Drive time was 2 hours to the load and 5 1/2 to destination. Margin of error..low considering I'd need to take the mandatory 30.

Needless to say, I arrived on-time (super close) and without incident. Shipper and receiver are both ecstatic that the load they anticipated being late arrived on time.

Brings me full circle to attitude. Yes, this wiped out my perfect off time plans. Yes, I'm now parked in the boonies with nothing to do. however, I accepted the load without complaint and achieved the best possible results. All because I didn't sulk, complain, and drag my feet cause my day got ruined. Sometimes you just gotta get er done.

That is a terrific truck. Thanks for posting the pictures...your pix are more informative than anything that the factory puts out, at least anything I've been able to find.

I'm driving a 2017 Cascadia now, and can't wait until I get enough miles on it for the company to move me into the 2018...I detest the dash layout on the 2017 and prior versions...the 2018 looks much much better and the bunk area looks better too. Now if they could just figure out a way to glide over the potholes

Man, it's been a busy month, sorry I've not been around much! So what did the busy month bring? How about a 2018 Freightliner cascadia! I just picked her up from our office this weekend, so still working on organization and setup. But boy am I happy! Far smoother and far more quiet than the Volvo by a factor of 10. Inside is pretty comfortable and spacious with plenty of storage, good size frig easily fitting multiple half gallon jugs, food, and plenty of snacks. Anyways I'm super excited my hard work has paid off!

I like the lack of skirting on it. Polished aluminum tank, polished diamond plate, etc. Really nice ride...! Sharp.

The lack of skirting is growing on me. The pure amount of polishing I'm stuck with is only down side lol I'm gonna have to invest in a buffer to keep all this metal looking sharp! Spent about an hour today polishing after rolling through Detroit MI and that little snowstorm that kicked up a bunch of salt and filth.

I'm likely the oddball, but I prefer a more firm mattress. So the new one that came with my truck does not bother me to much. I still threw on a 2" memory form topper to give it that bit of extra comfort.

But I'm also the type that buys a IKEA memory foam matress that came in a roll and most say it's nearly as firm as wood

We have one at home but on the road I have just used my thermos and filled it up each night. But I’ve been thinking about getting a mini and carrying it with me on the truck and just making it fresh each morning.

Yea, that's what I was doing before as well. But the mini takes up very little space. Something about being able to drink whatever flavor, strength, or whatnot is nice. Heck I've got a bit of fluff and even a hot coco blend for those snowy stops!

Oh yeah gotta have the coffee when I get up too. People look at me funny when the hear I have a keruig in my truck. It’s really great you always have a fresh cup of coffee in five minutes. I have even made a customer a cup when he met me early one day. I made more points with him than you can imagine.

I've done the same and during the warmer months before winter I'd offer a coke or Mt.dew. Nothing helps get a load moving like a bit of caffeine!
