Not Hired PRIME i am a little bit upset and frustrated??

Hey Gladhand,

Yes i am in Albuquerque, NM.... Does Swift allow SOLO after TNT?

I noticed SWIFT has one here i was looking into SWIFT what do you recommend?

Thanks

Swift has a yard in Albuquerque, it is where I am based out of. Are you in Albuquerque? Prime didn't take me either, just the way it goes.

Not Hired PRIME i am a little bit upset and frustrated??

Dammm Reyn... Well said, well said...

I am reaching out to other companies currently... Do you have your CDL now? or you going threw a training?? because you said March?? I know i will find a company that will work with me.. Thanks

Bring angry, bitter or resentful isn’t going to solve your immediate problem. So what if Prime rejected you? You have a laundry list of other companies that will give you a shot but how you handle adversity in this industry will determine if you succeed or blame/look for fault elsewhere than in the mirror.

Look we don’t know each other from squat. We read one another’s posts & make a judgement & answer according to what we read. I’ll give you my perspective.

Prime rejected me too. As soon as that happened I reached out to Knight, Swift & CFI. Why those companies? I read lots of diaries, lots of threads in the general section even posts from the ladies section too. It all comes down to you. You will make money wherever you go if you remain focused, don’t sweat the small stuff, learn something everyday, make good time with your loads but take your time getting there, most importantly WATCH YOUR TRAILER!!!

My orientation is March 5th. In Florida! A place almost no one wants to hire from. Or at the very least, are very reluctant to do so.

I said all that to say this. Stop worrying about the past, you don’t have to include it in every post. You find a hurdle today, figure out what caused the hurdle then figure out how to jump over it, go around it or crawl under it.

The grass is never greener on the other side, you still have to pour manure all over it to make it green. Hard work makes hard green in your pocket.

All the best to you. God bless. Be safe.

Not Hired PRIME i am a little bit upset and frustrated??

Thanks,

Yes i did fill out the application on day 1 at end of the application i was instructed to call a 800 number and was directed to my Recruiter.. I showed plenty of effort... anyways i am not sure what other company i should apply with... i was thinking CR England, Swift and a few others.. I gotta start somewhere.. At this point i honestly cannot afford to pay out of pocket for my CDL schooling.. So IDK i want to this blood, sweat and tears.. thanks for your input.

It's exactly as she said...

Prime is one of the more selective companies when it comes to job history. Simple, nothing you can do about it.

Oh, and the reason you didn't get the attention you were expecting might be attributed to not filing an application.

Don't limit yourself to one choice...

Not Hired PRIME i am a little bit upset and frustrated??

Hello Everyone,

I am a little confused and i would appreciate everyone's input...

Like i always say i am now 32 years old, i have had my regular DL for over 16 years here in New Mexico and never once been arrested or citations for any reason.. I just wanted to add that in this post again.

Now here is where i am flabbergasted and speechless about.

I reached out to PRIME about a month ago for the TNT program and yes i am dedication to do this as a job and lifestyle.. I'll be honest i did not have a very motivated, go-getting or dedicated Recruiter AT ALL she had the personality of a Rock honestly.. It took her about 1 week just to call me back from the very start and after several of voice mails later... So let me just get straight to the point here... I only talked to her about 2 times total in about a month now long story short she called me on 1-4-18 and asked some questions about my past employment and i answered her questions.. She said she would call me back the next day on 1-5 with an answer and YES she did call (surprisingly), but she simply said "WE CANNOT EXCEPT YOU, YOU HAVE TO GET ANY JOB AND KEEP IT FOR 6 MONTHS THEN CALL US BACK" Now i am just speechless right here??? Why could they not just tell me that in the beginning??? Ughh now in the past 10 years i kept a job for 7 years solid and a good one at the airport and the company let 3 employees go (I WAS ONE OF THEM) it was simply because we were getting paid the highest hourly and most incentive.. They did not say that but it was obvious getting rid of the Veteran Sales Reps and the same day they had 3 other brand new employees hired.... Now after that 7 years i decided to go with another company in the same building but was hired a totally different position then what i wanted but i was promised to get the same sales position but that never happened so yes in return i lost interest in that job and yes eventually got fired unfortunately, So i kept that job for about 3 months and was let go FIRED back in September 2017 that's all.. Now i have not had a job from September until today, i still don't have a Job she asked why.. (I replied) because i had enough money to live off comfortably and i have spent months looking into the trying industry, programs and so on... Anyways she did not care to hear anything i had to say.. Simply cannot hire you get a job for 6 month then call back?? WTF

Anyways my question is WHY, WHY?? What do you really think happened here?? and i was honest on the job history what if i would have left out that 2nd job i had for 2 months would i have gotten the job?? My credit Yes it is very bad do you think they looked at that?? Do you know of any company that i should apply with that has a TNT training program sorta like PRIME?? I don't have a CDL or Permit would a company take me more serious if i approached them with a Permit from my state DMV??

Anything and everything is helpful??

Jim Palmer Trucking CDL Training Program??

Hello Everyone,

I am just repeating a little information about myself in the forum...

Hello everyone here on TT and I find this website very, very helpful and thanks to everyone's input.. Thanks to RainyD, OldSchool, PJ, G-Town, Errol and for sure Brett A for having the opportunity to access all this helpful information... Thanks Guys all information is much appreciated.

First off.. I hope everyone is having a safe 2018 out there on the road right now and pray you get where you are going SAFE..

New Drivers and Vet's please help!!!

Just a little information about me first... I am 32 years old, clean MVD record never been involved in a Motor Vehicle accident or a Ticket from Police of any kind and I've had my regular DL from New Mexico for over 16 years now never once suspended or anything like that ONLY an honest mistake it was expired for 6 months before i noticed.. QUESTION? I notice Jim Palmer wants a valid DL for the past (3) years and i had to renew my license in JUNE 2017 but my record is so damm CLEAN i didn't realize my license was expired for 6 months prior to that before it expired in 11-2016???

Can that be a huge issue?? I've always had the same DL # from New Mexico and never 1 ticket or citation??

I was curious if anyone has known anyone who went threw JIM PALMER to get the CDL A and to stay with them for a year??? how is it??? and how long did it take to go Orientation??? because i here there groups are small like (5) people at a time??? I honestly just like what i have been reading about JIM PALMER it sounds like it fits me better, because i have been considering PRIME but.. I do like what i am reading about on JIM PALMER.. How is the HOME policy for JIM PALMER from what i read its not bad and they will work with you for the most part???

Anyways i am interested any good or bad things please feel me in??

CDL CLASS B COMPANY PAID TRAINING COMPANY'S?

Hello everyone,

First off i DON'T have a CDL A or CDL B but...

I have been doing plenty of research for weeks now on CDL A and i understand what it takes to get a CDL A and what it pertains.

My question is.. I have contacted some companies here in New Mexico and they require a CDL B for straight commercial vehicles.. I am surprised many of these company's i contacted will straight hire you with the CDL B and with NO prior experience and I'm m assuming they will most likely train me if anything?? whats your input?? Is there good money to be made with a CDL B?? can you make as much as someone with a CDL A driving OTR??

One other question, Does anyone know of any companies out there that have paid training for a CDL B?? or should i ask is there a program similar to what PRIME does with there students?? Is there a company like PRIME but specializes in Straight Commercial Vehicles and has a student program like PRIME???

Thanks in a advance with all helpful information..

PRIME 30,000-40,000 miles or Local Trucking School?? for CDL OTR or Local??

Hi RainyD, Thanks again for all your helpful information.... Today i was driving around town and looked at my phone noticed i missed a call from Springfield, MO... So i know my recruiter is trying to call me at-least? Anyways i called her back but went to voice mail and so i hope i hear from her again tomorrow.. Anyways the information you posted would be a good idea to study it correct? for test reasons correct at Prime??

Thank You

HI!!! Definitely do the High Road Training Program. Study the information and do not memorize the question/answer. Many questions are word.for word, however, you could come to a question that has slightly different wording and not understanding the material or the reasoning could mess you up

High Road CDL Training Program

I took the written test on paper and each question had 4 answers. i went through them all and skipped the ones i wasn't sure of. Often the answers are in later questions. Eliminating two answers gives you better odds of guessing the correct one.

For the Pre trip, check.out Apex driving Schools pretrip video. The parts are all the same, just in different places. So if you know how to identify the brake chamber on the Volvo, it is the same part as on the Pete, just might be in a different position. This is actually really a great way to learn it.

As for recruiting, they were probably limited due to the holidays. DMVs and offices that do background checks were probably closed. Give it a couple days and see what happens. If you don't get a response, call Angela Gomez in recruiting. Rainys not.my real name so she wont know me lol

PRIME 30,000-40,000 miles or Local Trucking School?? for CDL OTR or Local??

Hey Old School, Thanks for your input =]

Yes i have to agree, It is worth a piece of mind for sure.. I like everything you wrote here and thank you.. It looks like i will start with Prime and to TNT if all goes well.

Dee, Welcome to our forum!

You'll see that we are pretty big proponents of the Paid CDL Training Programs. The others have given you a lot of the reasons why.

Most newcomers to this get all hung up over that one year commitment. I understand their misgivings concerning it but I'll guarantee you it takes most people more than a year to save up enough money to pay for a private school. Either way there is considerable commitment. Since you seem to be a bull rider, you might enjoy reading this thread about Commitment.

The thing you have got to keep in mind is your ultimate goal, and how you accomplish it. If you want to ultimately drive local, then you have to formulate a plan to get some Over The Road experience. That is what most of your local driving jobs will require. All of the company sponsored programs can provide you with that. The beauty of them is that you are promised a job once you've successfully gone through their training. That is worth a lot of peace of mind.

I went through a private school because I thought it would give me more options. I was totally wrong. I had a really difficult time landing my first job. Having a CDL doesn't put you in demand. Having a year or two of experience using your CDL in an Over The Road capacity, now that will set you up for success at applying to just about any local driving job. Since they all want that one year level of experience, why not save your money and let the company who trains you finance that expense for you?

That first year flies by. They will keep you so busy you will be done with your commitment in what seems like no time at all. Who knows, at that point you may love driving Over Th e Road, but if not, it should be very easy to find a local job at that point.
