Looking for local opportunity in my area

I have been working a Midwest regional route for the last three months. This is my first driving job. I am in Northern Illinois (McHenry County) and am wondering if anyone out there is also from here and knows a good local company that offers home daily jobs. Thanks in advance.

Home time Parking

Thanks for the ideas. I’m in McHenry County, IL. I knew some of the big stores allowed drivers to park overnight, but wasn’t sure if they would allow drivers to park and leave for a couple days. I’ll look into it. Thanks again.

Home time Parking

I am in week two at Schneider training in Gary, In and am wondering, if hired, if there is someplace nearer to my home than the Gary or Chicago OCs where I could park my tractor/trailer. I’m in Northern Illinois and am curious if anyone out there has an answer for me. Thanks.

Schneider Orientation and Training

I will be starting Schneider’s Orientation and Training next week and am filled with anxiety. I am slightly worried about leaving my family for 18 days ( I realize it’s a short time in the industry.) I’m more concerned about my lack of backing skills. I passed the backing tests and got my CDL, however, throughout school I struggled with backing and am concerned about passing Schneider’s tests. Does anybody have experience with Schneider’s testing? If so, what do they expect? Are they helpful or impatient? Anything would be helpful. Thanks you.

Local job for newbie

Thanks Old School. That was a great analogy. I have rushed a fire or two in my day, only to find myself having to start over. An initial investment of time can save time and spare one from frustration. If I had no other option like Brian’s situation, I would go his route. I believe I can make the Regional route work for a while and then find something that will give me daily home time. Thanks again to all that have responded with their insights. You have all been very helpful.

Local job for newbie

Thanks everybody! I am in McHenry County. I think I kind of knew what the popular response would be. I know I need further training and would benefit from a company like Schneider. I was just checking Incase someone out there knew a local company where I could get good experience while having daily home time. Suppose I wanted to have my cake and eat it too. Thanks again everybody.

Local job for newbie

Hi, I was wondering if anybody out there knows of some good local companies in the Northern Illinois area that hires new drivers. I have talked with Schneider, but my wife and I would be happier if I could start off my career while remaining at home. I realize that’s not always an option for the new driver, but I thought I would check. Thanks.
