DOT Drug Testing: Urinalysis or Hair Follicle?

What did they want on the doctor's report?

Updated by Moderator:

Great news folks! We now have several awesome pages of information in our Trucker's Wiki about drug and alcohol testing:

Alcohol and Drug Policies & Testing

This is the main topic and it covers the Federal policies on who is tested, how often they're tested, and what drugs they test for.

DOT Drug And Alcohol Testing Information & Methods

This subtopic gives more specific information about the various types of tests that are done, what they detect, and how long they will detect it

Hair Follicle vs. Urinalysis: Breakdown By Company

This subtopic gives specific information about which types of testing are done by the various companies and when we received our last information on the company.

We'll continue to use this conversation to collect information and answer questions. All of the information we gather will be kept up to date in our wiki.

I get asked privately on a regular basis which companies do hair follicle testing and which ones do urinalysis. We're going to use this conversation to gather information on the various companies.

If you'd prefer to keep this private because you don't want people knowing which company you work for I'm totally cool with that. Click on my name to the left of this message and it will take you to my profile. You'll see a link that says "Would you like to send Brett a private message?" Click on that and shoot me a private message. I don't care who you are or who you work for. I just want to be able to help people get their trucking careers underway and help them prepare for any challenges that lie ahead.

Thanks!!!!!!

Was in hospital, last time I took hydrocodone was early May, I have an electronic doctors note with letter head detailing this, and a doctors release to go back to work...Would I pop positive with over 5 months since? Do the chemical markers stay on hair not cut(have a forest of chest hair, not cut in years), cut head hair regularly... What I was wondering was would markers be left on chest hair that grew back in May...? I know I have the note, last time I worked for them they were known to reject a doctors note because it didn't say exactly what they wanted.... Finally start Monday, get tested next week, going to be a dedicated route with regular time off...

Drug Test Prescription

I just had infection in my toe and the doctor did a procedure that caused unbearable pain afterwards. I had some old hydrocodone lying around that I had left over from ages ago when I went to a doctor before. I tried motrin at the max level allowed, but the pain was still there. It felt like someone was scraping my toe with a razor blade. I ended up taking the hydrocodone because the doctor's office was closed at the point when the numbness wore off. I'm between jobs and will be going to another company sometime soon. Will this be a problem with the drug test? I have the old prescription, but it is ancient.

TomTom Trucker GPS

I like mine. I've never used the RM or the Garmin so I really can't offer a comparison.

Okay, I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Does anybody know anything about the TomTom navigation system? How does it compare to the others? The price is cheaper, but I'm just wondering how it functions in comparison.

HO Wolding

I have been very impressed with my conversation with an HO Wolding employee the other day. I just wanted to verify what kind of transmissions they have in their trucks. I have been lied to by so many recruiters and I just was wondering if anyone here works for HO Wolding. I have no reason to believe I am being lied to, but I just want to "double-check". I was told I would be trained in a manual and there would be no problem being assigned a manual transmission. Like I said I was VERY IMPRESSED with how this company operates so far in my contact with them, but I just wanted to double check (never hurts). And a BIG THANKS to truckingtruth.com for your reviews on companies where I saw they have both transmissions; you ARE the reason I even know about HO Wolding in the first place so THANKS!
