Difference in CDL B & A testing

I have a question for anybody that knows. I just got an opportunity that is perfect for me but requires a CDL B at least a permit. Is the testing for this different than a Class A

Prime,Swift, and Maverick training

Hello, This is a question for any Prime, Swift, or Maverick people out there. How long is the training for these companies including doing time with the trainer out on the road?? I think I have applied to just about every company in America hahaha not really but feels like it! Just looking for that one who will take me on and give me a shot. I am looking to work hard for em whom ever that will be. Good money is made when your willing to turn those wheels as much as you can and I plan on just that!!!! Thanks for any info! And by the way this web site is one of the best places I have found to get information and help a Newbie get on his feet. I am doing the High Road training that this site offers and it has been helping me tremendously!!!! So thankful that this help is here!!!!!

Getting rejected by a trucking company

OK.....This was a Company that has a paid CDL program which you are required to work for them for 'X' amount of time in return. I get paying back a loan you want someone who does not have the amount of issues I have. I get this but I am trying to fix this issue best I can. I left a life of making good money to the life of being a Paramedic because I wanted to help folks and my financial situation paid the price. It took me 15 years to finally come to the conclusion that this was not worth it anymore. SO........I am having to dig out of a hole. The email I got was one that said in my background check including my credit there was information found that put my app in question. Then I get a rejection email a few days later. Very nice email thanking me for all my time and effort! Now.......I haven't a criminal record and my MVR is squeaky clean, I couldn't tell you what doing drugs feels like, and haven't touched a drop of alcohol in years. I had to reasonably deduct that my credit was the culprit. Whatever the case may be Old School your response flipped a switch........so its simply like applying for a loan when going for these " Get Paid while you train. " pitches! Ok so my credit foul up is going to be an issue apparently as I try to get to be what I want to be more than anything right now. So be it

Getting rejected by a trucking company

Hello all........I just got a rejection from a trucking company due to my credit sucks!!!!! Now at first I started to get swelled up and saying the usual that I am not applying for a darn loan I am trying to get into the business to help my financial situation!!!! Started to crush my spirit a bit but then it hit me!!!! I WANT TO BE A PROFESSIONAL TRUCK DRIVER!!!!! Its all I think about! I have issues with sleep apnea that I am on a machine and have to show proof that I am using it.....another obstacle to overcome!!!! I am not going to let this stop me....I have quit looking anything up on the internet because everywhere I turn there are these negative Nancy's out there trashing this company or another! I will not be stopped.....I will overcome the obstacles and I will be behind the wheel of a Big Rig soon!!! However I just wonder is this a common thing to get rejected over a credit rating??? I just want my shot at this dream. Who ever takes me on I will tell you this......I will turn those wheels and turn nothing away!!!!! Their loss for turning me away is all I can say!!!!

Beginning the Journey

Well thanks for the info so far. I guess maybe it has become so very overwhelming the number of companies that contact you once you get your info out there saying you are interested in driving a truck for a living even without a CDL yet! Just trying to make informed decisions and sometimes you have to ask those folks who have been in the game for a while. Asking questions is how we learn. I guess maybe I did fall into the ole negative Nancy Traps that are littered out there.....but maybe I just wanted a good feel for some companies to help get me started as I really don't know them at all. Some of you out there do. As far as my work ethics I would say I give 110% into what I believe in. I want to make money but I want to learn what it is to drive a Big Rig! Has always been inside of me and I feel its time to turn that loose. I had folks telling me I was crazy for going to be a Paramedic...and how hard it is on the family as well as your own mind. I was even told I will never do it. Not only did I do it but then became a supervisor of my own crew! I have that same drive here.......I want to do this and once I get there no matter where "there" is I will succeed! So I will use whatever tools I can get to take each step in this journey of mine. Those tools sometimes or even most of the time come from all of you who have been there! Thank you again for any input to help me make good informed decisions and even if I have to be straightened out on my approach.......right Old School? HAHAHA.....Its ok and well taken. I need the feed back thank you

Beginning the Journey

SO, I have another question and hope I get some good honest answers. I am leaving a fairly stable career to follow this new adventure in trucking. Who are some of the better companies to get started with that pay decent and will help with getting the CDL? I understand that one has to start at the bottom then work upwards and that's just the way it is but don't want to start with a company that is just crap from the start! Much like the military the recruiters will tell you anything to get you in the door to meet their quota! Thanks for any info

BMI and sleep study

Hello to all you who have been in the trucking industry!!!! I am about to embark on this bold new journey to trucking! Right now I am a Paramedic and YES that is a big ole change but only so much blood and death one can look at before its time to move on! Last 6 months its been nothing but abused kids and kids dying so time to go find some sort of Zen. Anyway I got side tracked......I am over weight by about 50 pounds and my question is does this mean an automatic sleep study before I can get a CDL??? Thanks in advance for any help from this old 51 year old career changer
