What companies offer slip seat jobs with extended home times?
Is that really all most rookie drivers are getting? I have only been at this for 6 months with a small carrier and averaging about 2500 miles a week pulling a refrigerated trailer. I have only had one 2 week period that I did 6200 miles.
I was thinking could probaly do better on miles with a larger carrier like Barr-Nunn.

Tractor Man,
I plan on making more than $750 per week.....
Working 30/15 you would be working somewhere around 35 weeks a year. 35 X 1400 is still $50k a year.

I am looking for companies that offer slip seat type positions where for example you can fly in, work for 30 days, fly home take 15 days off, fly back for another 30 days. I know Barr-Nunn offers this type of position.
Any other companies? I have seen some Jet-Set jobs with Schneider that advertise 3 weeks on 5 days off but not 2 weeks off.
Anybody working a position like this? Do you like it?
I realize that this means you are working aprox 35 weeks a year so I expect annual salary will be lower than a normal full time OTR position.

Why Small Trucking Companies Are Often A Disaster Waiting To Happen - article by Brett Aquila
Thank You. I am 55 and just started my truck driving career. I have operated several small businesses in the past and you have reminded me again why I do not want to own another small business. I WILL be a company driver.
That brings me to my current employment at a small carrier, maybe 50 trucks... It was a good opportunity to get started and I now have about 70,000 miles under my belt and 7 months. I am averaging around 2500 miles a week coming home every 3 weeks for 3 days. But there was a recent management shift and I have concerns that they will survive.
So I am looking for options with "large" carrier if it becomes necessary. My objective is to make $70k to $80k being home every 3 weeks or so. What large carriers should I be looking at hiring drivers in the western states?
