PacMan's Bio

I am a US Army veteran that is looking to get back into trucking. I started my career after the military in 2000 and drove until 2013 off and on. When I got my license back in 2000, an instructor told me "once that diesel gets in your blood, it's hard to get out". I have been infatuated with trucks since I was little and I am still as infatuated today.

Professor X,

Congrats on completing training and becoming a solo driver. I for one would love to read about your experiences with your trainer. Thank you for coming back to update us all that were following your transition. Stay safe and try to keep that left door closed.

Hello: Intro. to trucking truth.

Welcome Andrea.

I can assure you,as a new member, that there are some knowledgeable drivers on this site who will only stir you in the right direction. Any question that you have has already been asked, so pleased don't feel like your question may be dumb and let that feeling deter you from asking. There are too many people that wants you to succeed here.

Trucking is a great career to get into for all of the reason that you are looking for. It is a lot of work at times both physically and mentally. I implore you to make sure everyone is on board at home before you make your decision. The more knowledge that everyone has about the good and bad side of trucking the better. I don't mean to seem negative, but there has been so many times that potential drivers quit all because sacrifice that comes with trucking wasn't taken into account.

I pray that you enjoy your experience at CFI and that you receive everything you are looking for and more.

The wait is almost over!

Freak,

The best advice I can give is to be patient and to listen. A lot of people make the mistake of going into orientation thinking they know everything and then get sent home. Also, enjoy the experience. I got my CDL when I first started driving in NC from Schneider when they had their school going.

Rejection due to unemployment

Great job Jeff, HOOAAH!! From one Vet to another, I appreciate your service in and out of the military. I believe all things happen for a reason and it is clear you were meant to be there to help that person through his time of need at the DMV. Your determination will take you a long way in this industry as. I pray you are safe out on these roads and that you fully recover from your PTSD.

Absolutely drained, but ready for Prime

Luke,

Nice write up and very honest. It amazes me that there are still people that show up to orientation only to not pay attention. Not realizing that they are there for a job. Not to be the class clown or the class not it all. As Rainy said, don't let them deter you. Keep your head down a drive forward.
