I'm going through the orientation process at Western Express @ the Nashville Terminal.
A shuttle picks you up from the Greyhound and take you to the hotel. The area is a bit rough but nothing you can't handle. Breakfast starts at 0500. Mainly waffles, cereal, muffin, banana, orange juice & coffee (No pig/bacon or patties) A school bus picks you up in the morning @ around 0600 and take you to the Training center(Next to a Pilot fuel station).
You're put into color groups according to the day you arrived in a given week.
DAY 1:
Medical unless you have your medical card and long form. Everyone does a urine Drug test. No hair follicle test. Road Evaluation which is very easy. You also do a backing and a turn course. By the afternoon you'll be in class covering rules and regs. Last is a ELOG class.
DAY 2
Is mainly a safety class Day. Mike(God bless your heart) hit home with the safety class. You go to the main Terminal and cover pre-trip and then pending you're hired, you should get your driver code and fuel card the next day.
The hotel provides breakfast. Western Express will provide Lunch and dinner. On the weekends, they'll hand out McDonald cards so you can eat.
If you're going Flatbed- It's 3 days of load securement after finishing the first 2 days of orientation.
No orientation pay unless you're flat bed, then you get paid for those 3 days.
