Misdemeanor sex offence (landing a job?)
Thanks for the input and kind words.
I noticed you mentioned a company [CFI] that is a bit more lenient on the background checks... it would be awsome if you all could chime in and agree on what companies may be the more "lenient" companies to try first.
I am also trying to find the "smaller business" trucking employers around here. As I have read that they may give me better chances
There are companies that will hire you as a RSO. What everyone has said about time from conviction or completetion to when they will hire you is what makes the difference. Whether they go by completion or conviction is up to the company. I highly recommend you talk to companies and be upfront with them. CFI is fairly lenient with backgrounds. I would certainly speak with them. Just be patient as they are busy. We are not here to judge you, just help you with good, honest advice, from our own personal experience. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for the replies!
My crime had no direct contact with a victim.
I will definitely stay in touch, should have answers in about 5 months
Glenn, I really hesitated on making this reply because you have already received advice here beyond what I can offer. And I'm sure you have already explored this with your lawyer. But is there anyway you can make a settlement with the victim in which you admit your mistake and agree to make reparations? I'm not at all recommending sweeping this under the carpet, but it may keep it off your record. The court may cooperate with this approach if you are willing to go the extra mile. I've seen it happen before.

Even second chance companies?
My counselor discussed with me a few of her other attendees that are labeled as a violent sex offender for life... getting trucking jobs... I am sure there are companies out there that give chances. I really appreciate all the input, my crime was literally not even that bad... but you can be labeled a sex offender for anything these days.
Glenn, we all wish the best for you, but you will probably end up having to put this off for a few years. We don't have a crystal ball, but typically these trucking companies will want a few years between your conviction and their willingness to hire you. It all sounds sincere when you say you've reformed yourself and present yourself as harmless as a new born kitten, but time spent proving that is what is going to be required. We talk all the time about trucking being performance based. Character is similar - talk is cheap, but proof and evidence speak volumes. They need that - they need evidence.

Oops I'm so sorry I accidently hit the report button on my phone on this comment, please disregard that as it was an accident.
I appreciate your reply. I will have to talk to trucking companies as stated in the previous comment. I also can provide great counseling updates to any company willing to give me a chance. I am doing well in life... it was just a poor mistake.
I'm hoping this doesn't hinder my trucking inspiration much.
The problem won't be whether you can travel. The problem will be a recent conviction. Most companies want years between the completion of a conviction sentence and hire date. You probably won't get hired until way after your conviction.
So if you get 1 year probation, you might be hireable in 2023. But that depends on the company. Second chance companies may be more lenient, but the pay way less.
You are going to have to wait for the outcome, then call some recruiter to.get a timeline.
Criminal backgrounds show poor judgement, and judgement is a huge part of our job. We represent companies to their customers and we must protect the public and freight.
We had a guy here who couldn't get hired with a 20mph speeding ticket that was recent. Your case is worse.

We are pushing for ARD since im a first time offender. M2 indecent assault. ARD will get charge expunged and dropped after unsupervised no travel limitation probation. If I'm not approved for ARD, we are pushing to have it charged as a summary or m3 harassment
For misdemeanor offenses try to get 1st time offender status or have lawyer get it changed to non sex related. Otherwise your cdl will be useless since you're getting a fresh conviction. At my company a felony conviction has to be over 10 years even sex crimes. Not sure of misdemeanors. Might want to call small companies and ask them. Large carriers like swift, jb hunt, Schneider will never accept you. Good luck. May want to try construction companies but need to be able to travel.

PA. We are pushing for ARD. this is the first criminal charge of my life. Misdemeanor 2 indecent assault. The probation for ARD would be unsupervised and no travel restrictions.
For most companies you will have to have time off probation, so you can travel. It will be extra hard to land a local job with a criminal past, but so recent will make it almost impossible. What state do you live in? How long will your probation be?

Misdemeanor sex offence (landing a job?)
So, I will most likely be getting convicted of a misdemeanor low tier indecent assault charge sometime around July. I started a career change recently and I am about to obtain my cdl a.
What are my chances of landing a job with this kind of sex crime conviction.? It is possible I will be on the registry after convicted. But my probation will be unsupervised and no travel over state line issues.
Any help would be appreciated, my life was just flipped upside down due to my mistake. I am going through all the correct measures to ensure I never make this mistake again... and I'm doing very well.
