Yeah about 3 months I have had a hard time with being new and covid even garbage company's wont take me im trying to stay local for my kids and wife but I'm learning real quick we may have to sacrifice and do regional a while.......the area he wants to meet is east cleveland area which is pretty scary itself.i sure appreciate 🙏 the tips and if you know anyone local that might be willing to train a rookie please let me know
So I applied on indeed to a job in cleveland called j&k express local 22 an hr so the guy called me I said i just got my cdo no experience hes like thats fine we are new only have a few trucks didnt give me his name had me fill out an app I left out my social anyway he called again and its an 888 number then says he wants to meet at a burger king in Cleveland there working on getting there facility together my question to you experienced guys is does this sound To good to be true?is it a scam?
Yeah, that's definitely a 'no go' IMHO. Cleveland SURE DOES have some shady areas; my hubby delivers in many of the boroughs there.
I looked them up on SAFER web; they don't even SHOW a CLE location...but a bunch of others....all a bunch of LLC's. Closest one is in CMH (Columbus) with only 2 power units, and a DOT/MC# established in December 2019. Nothing I'd be interested in AT ALL, being a fellow buckeye, and married to a trucker, LoL~!
You've had your CDL for what, 3 months now? Have you driven at all yet? You need to get going, Michael ~! Are you trying to stay away from OTR, or... what? Just wondering. As I recall you went to weekend school, correct? There are many opportunities out of Cleveland for many amazing carriers. We've got a lot of buddies up your way that drive up there.
Best wishes on your job search, sir!

Road test tommorow should I try to sleep?
Your right I'm still laying here trying to conk out If I stay up itll be about 26 hours awake at test time
You need to sleep. I'm not sure how long you've already been awake but I've heard that after 24 hours being awake your decision making is similiar to being intoxicated. You will be unable to think clearly especially under stress. Loading up on caffeine will only make it worse and have you jittery. You know where the curb is and how to avoid it. Focusing so deeply on this curb is going to cause you to fail something like shifting because you're too worried about it. They don't expect you to be perfect, you just need to show them you know how to safely handle a rig.

Road test tommorow should I try to sleep?
Thanks brother!
Try to get some sleep. Take your time on the turns and watch your tandems. Don’t let a small mishap on your last test destroy your confidence. You got this

Hey guys weird question I've been doing weekend training at community college for a few months finally test not this tuesday but next instructors have told me I'm the best driver in class I feel pretty confident on pre trip maneuvers and definetly on road EXCEPT!we have a 10 speed 2014 cascadia and they want us to start in 3d gear instead of 1st probably so ppl dont throw it on reverse going to second they always say easssssse off the clutch until you feel it pull a little for some reason it always sound like its gonna bog down or stall unless I immediately give it gas but the instructor was like your gonna burn the clutch so I eased off and bam it stalled I can shift piece of cake how do I fix this before I test?it dosent big like that when were doing maneuvers is it because were starting in a higher gear?thanks fellas see yall on the road shortly god bless

Thank you I have my test the week before Christmas
It might help you to write out the pre trip several times on paper. Write it in the same order every time. It helped me learn the pre trip before I ever even saw a truck.
For backing, I didn't get as much practice as I thought I needed while in school. When it was time to test I figured I had a 50/50 chance at passing. I got lucky and passed.
I passed pre trip and backing first try. Driving (which I was very confident about) took me two tries. I hopped a curb on my first turn and that was it for my first attempt.
I dont know of many, if any, people who are totally confident going into their CDL tests. Try to keep a positive attitude.
