Determined South Florida Noob....
Hi Anne, Thanks for the warm welcome and the tip about Cypress. This weekend I'm going to be doing some more research about which companies with in house CDL schools are hiring way down here in the deepest of the deep south..lol. And hopefully I can get my physical and take my CLP test before the end of next week, after that I'll start applying.

Determined South Florida Noob....
Howdy y'all, I've been hanging around here for a while and being the avid reader that I am I have pretty much read this entire web site. I would like to thank everyone here for all the great advise they give and the wealth of information that is available on this website. Also I have gone through the high road training page a few times and believe I am more than ready to take my CLP test. But first things first come Monday morning I need to make an appointment for a DOT physical after that I will make the appointment for the test. I do think I have a few hindrances namely I've spent the last almost four years helping my aging parents ( My mom passed away from breast cancer and my dad had cataracts removed and a knee replacement.) Before the caretaking I mainly worked as a carpenter, also I have a nine year old DUI. Other than that debacle my driving record is a blank piece of paper. And last but not least my location being Jupiter FL ( Burt Reynolds home town btw ) But I think with enough determination and grit these things can be overcome. So my plan is to apply to all the companies that have their own CDL school and hire below I-4. I have compiled a list and also made note of what companies I see when I'm on I-95. If I fail to get offered training by these companies I will attend Sage trucking school in Ft. Pierce which is affiliated with Indian River State College and that will open up a whole different group of companies that don't have their own schools but offer tuition reimbursement. Does that sound like a good plan?
