Nathan B.'s Bio

I am 26 years old and currently trying my very hardest to get accepted into company training school and get my career rolling. Been studying and preparing for months, got my permit in hand and now pulling the trigger with my applications. Trucking has been a dream of mine since I was little and I cant wait to do it for real :) I remember going on long road trips and I was always so excited to see the trucks rolling down the interstate. Hopefully soon with hard work, dedication and a little bit luck, I can finally start my journey into an amazing and exciting new life. I am ready for the challenge and looking forward to something new every day.

Congratulation Nathan!

We actually do have a Celadon driver here in the forum, his name is Joe. Keep in mind that Celadon's school is a new program for them, and they really have suffered some growing pains getting it off the ground. So, if everything isn't going going real well just be patient with them - we've had some reports about long waits for a trainer to be available, but hopefully they have gotten some of the bugs worked out of the system by now. It;s a fine company and a great place for you to make a new start.

Thank you Old school I cant wait to get out there and get rolling. I will try to find Joe and ask him some questions. I noticed that the student driver program was new, I was kind of worried about there being some bugs. From everything ive learned here on truckingtruth, a good attitude and a positive outlook can overcome a lot of things. Im happy to hear that its a good company and I have heard a lot of positive and promising things. I want to work as hard as I can for them and prove I was worth taking the chance on :) smile.gif

I almost considered them at one point but they didn't hire out of my area and I also heard they ordered 500 New Lonestars. I think its them anyways but I could be wrong.

That would be awesome to drive one of those! I seen a lonestar on the Celadon home page. one of the last of the classic looking trucks. shocked.png

Keep us posted! Celadon is actually one of the companies I am currently considering but the only thing I don't like about them is that they make you team drive for like 6 months after you graduate. Other than that, they seem like a great company to train with and drive for.

I will keep posting for sure. I thought about the team driving thing and i think for me it will be ok, gotta do what i gotta do. I am looking at it positive and i think it will be cool having a teammate out there on the road. working together on our tasks, having someone to help spot when we back into tight docks and stuff. I feel when i go solo after 6 months i will be ready to rock and have a good feel for everything by then. That's just me, everyones different. Celadon was the only company that wanted to give a chance so i will work hard and do whatever i have to do to prove myself

Frustration

Patience is not only a virtue...it's an absolute necessity in Trucking .

Hang in there . If you can't get thru the preliminary process you are going to go insane when you're at shippers and consignee ...never mind the traffic...the qualcomm failures.... the dm that do not respond ....the wait for a shower in the Pilot...parking in the pilot....the price of food .... etc etc ad nauseum .

Bottom Line...If you want it...hang in there .

I have began to notice exactly what your talking about. When I first started my research and beginning to really go for it and get into trucking, everyone kept telling me patience, patience and then some more patience. I didn't realize how important it really was until I started hitting all these road blocks and frustrating issues that keep popping up. Jumped thru a ton of hoops already and still many more to come. I want it really bad and im staying tough and fighting thru.
