How much stuff can I bring?

Hi all,

Next week i start training for Wilson Logistics up in Montana. They told me to pack 7 to 10 days worth of clothing for when I am on the road with a trainer after i get my permit.

My question is: i have a backpack and a regular size carryon bag like for an airplane. Is this too much, too little?

What would be the recommended things to pack and how much? Thank you so much!

How many written tests for permit?

Hi guys,

I'm taking my CDL permit written test early next month in Montana. If i am not getting any endorsements how many tests will i take? Or will it just be 1 comprehensive test?

I understand there are different sections like airbrakes and combination vehicles. Thanks as always!

Which topics to Study for?

High Road CDL Training Program

Definitely use the high road. Almost everyone that's used it has aced their tests. General knowledge, airbrakes and combination vehicles are the minimum for a class A CDL, with the rest being endorsements. Keep in mind for the passenger endorsement you will be required to take a test in a school bus.

Thank you sir for the advice. The state i will take my test in is Montana. My company said to download that state's manual and study it.

Does the Highroad Program go by state or does it really matter?

Guys, I'm new here on the forums. Lots of great info here, I appreciate it.

So I'm getting ready to start at Wilson Logistics next month and have been worrying about the DOT physical. I'm 38 and basically healthy, not overweight or anything but I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism back in 2008. In the past couple years I had some financial problems and couldn't afford medical insurance. I haven't been taking my thyroid medication for about a year now, but I feel perfectly fine.

Anyways does anyone think this will be a problem for the physical? I am not sure how to handle it as I don't have money for a doctor visit to get prescribed levothyroxine again. Will everything be ok?

Rudy, are there any free clinics in your area that serve those who don't have insurance? Many communities have these or reduced fee arrangements. Please do some research or ask around to find one and get evaluated by a doctor. Also ask about free medication. Many doctors have access to free samples from the drug reps. But you have to be proactive and let the doctor know you can't afford the cost. Call a doctor's office, explain your situation and ask them to point you in the right direction. Good luck, but don't let this slide.

Thank you!

Which topics to Study for?

Hi guys,

I will be starting my truck driving training soon but first have to get my Class A CDL permit.

So I have some topics i can study for on apps like dmv Genie or CDL Prep. They are:

1. General Knowledge 2. Hazmat 3. School bus 4. Passenger vehicles 5. Air brakes 6. Doubles/triples 7. Combination vehicles 8. Tankers 9. Pre-trip

I will be working at Wilson Logistics as a regional driver. Anyways what should I focus on? I know some of these don't even seem relevant. Thanks a lot.
