Best states to be a dump truck driver?

I live in Northwest Ohio. Drove dump truck for a couple years. Pay was $23hr. Laid off about the middle of October to March or April depending on the weather. Check out Gerken Companies. They are pretty big in this part of the state

Weird Question About Medical Cards

Company I drive for requires me to use their doctor. That's okay with me since they're paying for it

Looking for ways to acceleratate my truck ? maybe some kind of motor attachement?

Stop filling your tanks with diesel and start filling with gasoline. Gas weighs less than diesel. Less weight equals faster acceleration

Refusing delivery

I don't believe anyone would call you a baby or anything else for that matter. Trucking isn't easy and it's definitely not for everyone. It's a totally different lifestyle. You gave it a shot and found out it's not for you. No one can fault you for that, but hopefully you did the right thing by delivering the load and returning the tractor to the correct place. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Does the state suspend CDL when medical card expires

In Ohio, you will have an intrastate only restriction on your license.

Schneider Aurora Parts Dedicated

double-quotes-start.png

Was offered a dedicated route, Aurora Parts. Half drop and hook, half live load/unload and home 2 days a week. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this account and can give any pointers?

Do you currently drive for SNI? Did they train you? Private school / freshly minted? Just wondering...might have some bearing on input from the drivers here.

From what we hear here in the Buckeye, that's a pretty decent route; especially if you are already on board with Schneider. Cincy isn't my favorite place (at all!) in Ohio... but we are 'local' Buckeyes here and.. perhaps some of the SNI guys will pitch in?!?

Hope you enjoyed your Holidays, either way. Post more information (and complete the bio in your profi) so the seasoned vets on here can perhaps pitch in more.

Best to you, Anne

Thanks for the reply Anne. Been hauling steel, driving for a family friend. He is getting out of trucking and selling everything. Been checking out some trucking companies to see what is out there. I've applied to Schneider, TMC and Maverick. Schneider tried talking me into tanker, but been there done that. They offered me the Aurora Parts. Maverick offered a dedicated glass route. Just have to make up my mind.

Hope you enjoyed the holidays as well and have a safe and happy new year.
