With the condo style sleeper, I leave the two upper windows open, side windows closed, no trouble with fumes.
Worst exhaust I've dealt with is a hot-shot pickup, horrible!

You seem determined. One thing you will want to remember, don't try to over-steer the trailer into position. You'll just put yourself more behind the 8-ball. Easier to add more turn into the backing, than subtract too much. Go nice and slow. You can do this!

Haven't been all over Wisconsin, but where I have been gave me the impression their roads were pretty good.
