I have never had a huge interest in trucks, but I always loved the sound they made going down the road, and the sound of the air tanks cutoff valve. The most experience I had was 7-tons, and LVSR’s in the Marines, and I just rode in them, and I played “American Truck Simulator” for a while and really enjoyed that.
Since my separation from the Marines, going back to school was not something I wanted to do, and I wasn’t going to work retail or fast food, or get a desk job, lol. Although the VA pays the bills, I still wanted to “do something” and not sit around all day.
So I used my GI Bill through Troops into Transportation, “The CDL School”, and started my new journey into trucking.

Looking for Trucking Company Help.
Thank you for the help everyone. As you can see, i have chosen Werner as my starter company! So far they seem pretty good, many people here are professional, some not so much, but that’s everywhere you go.
Afterwards ill use my Tanker endorsement to find a local route and everyday home time. Maybe even drive for Walmart later down the road, i hear they pay really well, no touch, drop and hook freight, but they have some strict requirements from what i saw on the website. We will see what happens in the future, when and if it happens. Just gotta take everything one day at a time.
I will probably make some more posts later.
Be safe everyone, and thank you again!

Thank you for the reply’s! I usually see trucks parked in other driveways on the main road outside my neighborhood.
The lot across the street is private property and they are building new homes over there.
Across the street from my house is a shoulder of grass, people park there all the time with cars, so if I’m just parking there for a day or 2 it should be fine.
We shall see.

I have been looking this up for a while, and have not found a clear answer. I’ll be starting with a trucking company next month. After training they said I’ll need to pick up my truck, and take it home, ( so I opted for a rental car, since I don’t want to leave my car in another state).
I have enough room in my driveway for a Bobtail, and if I had a trailer, I could possible park it across the street in the grass.
There are no, “no parking signs” in my neighborhood. I live in Jacksonville NC, outside of city lines with no HOA.
I have seen other places saying people will report you if they don’t like your truck in your driveway, and other areas not allowing it.
Have you guys heard or know anything for my area?
Thank you for your time!

Looking for Trucking Company Help.
Hello Everyone!
I just received my Commercial Permit the start of a career change out of the Marines, and i am looking for a company that allows me to be home, possibly every week, or be able to have dedicated routes to where I live. I think i want to go towards the Flatbed route, and have been looking up information for TMC and possibly Prime Inc. I heard Swift was not a good choice, but.. i hear from others that it is. (mainly YouTube lol).
I live in North Carolina, and i would like to find a way to come home at least a few times a month or so. My biggest question is, what are the differences between Prime inc. and TMC, what can i expect from them, the Pros and Cons. Would live some insight.

Hello everyone!
I am currently in CDL school with Troops into Transportation “The CDL School”, and it has been great, even though were doing video classes, the information comes across just fine. I took my permit test yesterday, and passed on the first go around. There were a few questions i did not encounter while studying, but overall from all 3 tests i missed maybe 5 questions.
Later in the month I will be driving to Miami to finish the course and do the practical portion, and i am excited!

Hello! I am a Marine Veteran, been out for about a year. Completely new to this and I have just started looking into getting my CDL, and possibly driving for FEDEX or something local here in NC.
I have been looking online at schools that can use my GI bill for the training and I came across, “Troops 2 Transportation” and “Troops to Truckers”.
Not sure which is better, or offers more benefit from using my GI bill.
I went to college before I joined the Marines so I don’t plan to use my GI bill for school, and I cant transfer it to my daughter so I’m going to use it.
Any information would be greatly appreciated! I believe I will enjoy trucking, something I haven’t done so I enjoy a challenge.

Company recommendations after 4 years and only 6 months of experience.
Hello! I am new to the site. I am looking for any recommendations a company who has local routes or a bit further out that will accept someone with: 6 Months of Tractor Trailer experience with Werner. Hazmat,Tanker, Doubles-Triples Endorsements. TWIC card.
I Have currently been working as a FedEx Ground delivery driver for the last 4 years after I left Werner because of family complications.
I want to make use of the Hazmat endorsement I have, but it seems that a lot of companies require one year or more of experience.
Any advice would be helpful, thank you.
