Trucking Cats

I didn’t even think of this! If he eventually does ok in the car, and not so good in the truck, definitely not going to force the situation. He seems to ignore firework noises that are off in the distance. Thank you!! 😺

Also, when you take him in the car the first few times, put him in a crate and cover any open areas with a towel or a sheet or something to make it darker for him. Then as he settles down start removing the covering to where he can see out.

Ok thank you! 😺

I would definitely recommend getting him in the car and riding around some first to see how he reacts.

Trucking Cats

I’ve heard that even cats can enjoy the trucking life!

Since I’ll be gone 2-3 weeks at a time, I’m thinking about taking my 2 year old cat in the truck with me. I know he’ll love the part about being with me (he’s a mama’s boy, lol), just worried how he’ll do when the truck is moving. Since I adopted him over a year ago, he’s never been outside of the house. Not sure if I can even get him in the car either. It’s only been once when I brought him home.

Any thoughts?

Western Express -Weekend Dispatch

Hello Everyone!

Just started as a solo driver with Western on Monday (Bloomington, CA), team loads since Thursday. I had teamed up with another driver (super cool) because I was recovering an available truck, so now he went his way and I’m bobtailing it at a truck stop.

Does anyone know if they have a dispatch team out of Nashville on the weekends? I know the DM’s only work Monday-Friday in Cali (I meant to ask the other day). I’ve been messaging on the tablet that I’m ready for a load, but haven’t gotten any type of response. They don’t have a Form Message for requesting loads.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Be safe out there!

Werner CDL School

Hi, yah thinking I'll prepare better financially before I start school. Thanks! 😎

I am unsure of the hours but doing schooling while still working is going to be difficult. The private school I went to was 7-330 M-F. All i wanted to do after class was go back to the hotel and sleep. It was exhausting learning something new. Most people don't understand how mentally tiring it can be. We've had a few members here that did what you're hoping to and in the end said they wished they did it differently. Operating a CMV all hours worked or behind the wheel need to be logged, including non driving work. If you continue to work would you be able to have 10 hours off between your job and school starting the next day? Is it possible to put school off for a couple months to set money aside to live off so you can focus 100% on school?

Awesome!!! It's just me so except for major upfront costs, I'm ready to go!! I don't mind the dorm/motel and eating cheaply lol. 😁 Also wanting to have a doggy with me too 🐶!

No Sharron I didn't go that route. Going thru the EDD , they had a budget issue, which put me on hold 6+ weeks. Once fixed they lowered available tuitions to $3,500, not $5k.....Which for some odd reason R.M.'s, couldn't juggle and accept.

I told admissions guy Werner owns R.M.s and I planned to start n finish driving for them, so they wouldn't miss that $1,500 difference hahahaha. So I wasted my time at a local school my advisor suggested. Which knowing this "school" I should have avoided, but I just wanted to get driving. In the end, I went with CRST stayed at their dorms , and they footed the whole enchilada= easy/peasy

Turned out ok in the end got my CDL in 10 days, went on the road 28 days with a trainer and then co driver(s)(2) Now transferred to sister company, after 7 months teaming, for solo gig, in the 8 western/regional, soon to get my own truck (a week)

Awesome thanks for the info! I need to make sure I can cover my everyday bills until the paychecks start. Probably best to call them but wanted to ask here 1st. Are you stoll with Werner? 😊

Roadmasters is their school in the same building in Fontana..... When I signed up with them originally (Werner/Roadmasters), I was told class was 7 am til 6 pm Mon-Sat and $5,000....... Don't know if this is still the same at this time

Hi! The Fontana CA school is close enough to where I live so I'm able to commute to and from school everyday. Does anyone know if thier school is 5 or 6 days a week, and an 8 hour day?? 160 hours I believe?? I ask only because I may need to continue working until graduation and begin orientation. I think that's when they start paying you ?? Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank you! 😁
