Big story here but Many thanks for your Great Answers

Brett -- Keith-- Sorry==that was not clearly stated.

Husband does want to help and sometimes overstates his opinion. Sorry again about the confusion.

Big story here but Many thanks for your Great Answers

Hi. You guys (& ladies) have been great. This has been crazy.

I am drawing the last of my MS unemployment. I found out the day after Christmas that I qualify for WIA (Workforce Investment Act). I've been checking out the field because WIA only pays once in a person's lifetime. So if you don't complete the program / get disqualified / kicked out --that's it.

I was looking at the CDL training because my husband has his CDL's. He's in TX helping his dad (sick). [We are really from Texas--no offense to beautiful MS.]

He's been telling me to get CDL's and he will "cover for me" in team driving. He Is A Fantastically GREAT, natural driver. Really. [Note: No drugs]. He got his CDL from a similar program in TX years back and really aced the private training. But his OTR experience has been bumpy.

My driving record is clear. No tickets, no accidents, no DUI's, no drug or probation issues. --But I've been driving something the size of a pocket book all my life. And then I still lose hub caps from cutting too close to things.

The questions abt BMI--I found out from the training school Thurs, 2 JAN that BMI was not passed for DOT in 2014 but sleep apnea (neck girth) was. My husband has health issues. I would squeak by and pass BMI by losing 11 lbs. He would have to lose 50 lbs to look good on paper. He also has sleep apnea issues.

We are just working things out & know we have to be guided by God (but doing is a lot harder than saying).

He would not want me to plaster this all over the internet. And that's for me, too. But keeping our mouths shut will not get some of this answered. Maybe someone else reading this can be helped & saved from asking the same.

These are exciting ==> Scary Times. In my career field, we know the body reads adrenalin from excitement the same whether it's "fun stress" or "fear stress." Just have to keep looking at the Fun aspect.

I'm having Lots of Fun.

Thanks for the support. May check back with you all.

God keep you Safe.

Heard New Year's Eve the 2014 DOT physical will have BMI requirements

Hi. I was at a McDonald's restaurant New Year's Eve and spoke to the driver who just completed a refridgerated pallet delivery. He is a career driver--a 19-yr CDL veteran. He took time to answer questions.

The driver gave me some information about high blood pressure & health issues for passing the DOT physical. He said the medical screener at his last MS physical in SEPT 2013 told him the DOT physical would likely include BMI / basic mass index (weight per height) requirements.

This driver brought it up as a concern for himself. He described himself as a "big guy" but with good blood pressure readings. I was supportive and thanked him for bringing this out in the open since it is not yet a requirement.

I am not a driver and am considering getting my CDL through WIA (assuming passing all tests, etc.). My blood pressure has improved this past year, but I've started taking it when the idea of getting my CDL came up. I wanted to check my blood pressure ranges to see if it will kick me out of the DOT physical.

Can anyone experienced who is keeping up with the trucking industry comment to BMI? It is important.

THanks in advance. This forum & testing material have helped greatly.

Had to stop on the online test Keep getting "testing halted" need to access the original training tract

Hi. I'm going through the online test & had to stop to get refocused. The test sends me through review. Need to get back on the main training so I can read CDL background stuff. Am new to CDL training and need all the training the automated system can provide.

Thank you for this service. It looks like its helped a lot of people and it is really helping me.
