Change of career from law enforcement to CDL driver

Bro, I'm retired LEO. Suck it up. Make Sgt. Work OT and side jobs. Put in your 20 THEN drive!! Driving is good....bad in your family situation, and for the first couple years about the same or less than you are making now. The benefits suck. There's no union.... You worked hard to get where you are! Stick to it! If you're unhappy, look to another Department, or State, or Federal. Don't give up what so many wished they had. Hang in there bro...... and good luck with the new family. Brian

Western Express L/O advice please

Only reply if you are a current WE Lease owner please, or have good advice about another company; I am currently a company driver with 10 Roads, hauling mail for $32/ hr. Assuming a 40 hour week i believe it is around $0.65 per mile based on a 2500 mi wk. SO, when I look at Western's Lease offer, I see that the per mileage pay is way more ($1.50-$2.75 mi in the Northeast). I guess my question is, after my weekly payment for truck and fixed costs, would I take home more? Is it worth the extra work for a little more, or is it a substantial difference?? Please don't badmouth the lease programs....i am a hard worker with 5 years of safe driving, and I can see no other way to make more money than to own your truck.... Looking forward to positive feedback. Brian.

CR England and Premier Trucking School

Here's the deal.... I started at CR, and now have 500k safe miles. CR is a STARTER COMPANY, and thats it. Go, get trained, get your CDL, ( all while getting paid), go on the road with a trainer and LEARN! Get your experience (again, while being paid), and after a year, or 9 months if youre a Veteran, you owe them nothing but have the experience required to move up in the industry. If you just go to a school and learn how to operate a rig, then what?? You have no experience on the road, so who will hire you??? Oh!! A company like CRE..... You may as well get paid to do this career from day 1, and owe nothing to a school. Take away: Free training from a reputable company is the way to go. I can personally endorse CRE, but do your own research.
